Evil Scarecrow's new video Space Dementia premieres Wed 4th Feb, Download Festival slot confirmed‏!

The air of anticipation just got a lot thicker as we're delighted to announce that the immensely awesome new Evil Scarecrow video for Space Dementia will be getting its premiere on the Metal Hammer website at 12 noon on Wednesday 4th Feb.  http://metalhammer.teamrock.com/

Space Dementia will be airing exclusively on the Metal Hammer site for the following 24 hours so during that time this is the only place you'll be able to see this galactically fabulous video!! It's guaranteed to leave you shocked and stunned at its sheer awesomeness, you might be giggling a little too.

Download Festival

I'm also utterly delighted to say that Evil Scarecrow are now officially announced to play DOWNLOAD Festival this summer!

The excitement is rising at ES HQ and plans are afoot to create an even more fabulous show than was seen last at Bloodstock last year, in the words of Dr Hell: "We are working on a very special show for this, one that will defy the world of physics!"

14th March - Hammerfest, Wales
11th April - Voodoo Lounge, Dublin supported by Psykosis, Enshrined, Displaced
27th May - Bierkeller, Bristol
30th May - Slade Rooms, Wolverhampton supporting Heart Of A Coward
12 -14th June - DOWNLOAD FESTIVAL, Derby

Dr Hell: "The first festival I attended was Metallica at Donnington Park in 1995. Since that life altering occasion it's been my lifelong ambition to play this hallowed ground and I finally, finally get to shout "Scream for me Donington!" We are totally stoked beyond all belief. We are working on a very special show for this, one that will defy the world of physics."

Kraven Morrdeth: "It's an honour to be able to play the hallowed ground of Download. So many bands I've grown up with have played their most iconic shows there so we have a tall order to fill, bring it on!"

Monty Blitzfist: "We have been mentally preparing for this chance in the hope it would come around, now it's here we feel so lucky and we're going to put something ridiculous together."

Brother Pain: "I have been going to Download Festival for over a decade now and it's an honour to play on the hallowed ground of Donington Park! This will be a lifelong dream realised!"

Princess Luxury: "To play Download is the one wish I have as a member of the band.....apart from world domination."

AIRBOURNE SIGN WORLDWIDE DEAL WITH SPINEFARM RECORDS‏

AIRBOURNEunswerving champions of the hard rock cause whose spectacular global success, live and on record, has consistently clenched a fist for the genre as a whole – have signed a worldwide deal with Spinefarm Records.

Driven by a formidable work-hard/play-hard ethic, and keen to entertain on the grandest of scales, this award-winning quartet (formed in regional Australia in 2003) have been proudly walking the rock ‘n’ roll path since their early teenage years, inspired by the music’s great and glorious past, yet determined to move things forward on a wave of blurred limbs & boundless energy.

Led into action by brothers Joel &Ryan O’Keeffe (vocalist / lead guitarist & drummer, respectively; the line-up is completed by David Roads on guitar and Justin Street on bass), the four have spent the past 10 years establishing themselves as a true force of nature – living on the road, selling out major venues, charting albums and appearing on bills with some of rock’s most legendary names, from Iron Maiden to the Rolling Stones.

With Airbourne, everything is to the hilt, which means that frontman Joel O’ Keeffe is as likely to be climbing the lighting rig or going ‘walkabout’ in the venue as positioned behind the mic; it also means that their three studio albums – ‘Runnin’ Wild’ (2007), ‘No Guts. No Glory’ (2009) & ‘Black Dog Barking’ (2013) – are home to some of the most rousing rock anthems of the past few years, songs like ‘Too Much, Too Young, Too Fast’, ‘No Way But The Hard Way’, ‘Live it Up’ & ‘Runnin’ Wild’ itself – a body of work that hasn’t escaped the notice of AC/DC’s Angus Young, who was recently asked in an interview what he thinks of modern rock music & he said“I see it as healthy, because there’s newer stuff coming through. I really like Airbourne”.

SINCE the release of ‘Runnin’ Wild’ (a silver record in the UK),Airbourne have notched up an impressive array of international facts ‘n’ stats: these include Top 20 chart entries, # 1 Rock Chart positions, awards for ‘Best Album’ & ‘Best Live Act’, numerous placements in video games and TV / movie outlets, plus key spots at the biggest festivals around the world, the likes of Wacken &Rock Am Ring / Rock Im Park in Germany and Sonisphere & Download in the UK, with Sweden Rock, Greenfield (Switzerland), Hellfest (France) andGraspop (Belgium) already confirmed for 2015.

Now, with sights set on absolute world domination and Album Number 4 likely to be released later this year,Airbourne have joined forces with Spinefarm Records in a new global deal that sees Spinefarm partnering with Universal Germany’s Vertigo imprint for the German speaking markets…

“We’re pumped up to have signed on the dotted line to the world's toughest and truest hard rock label, Spinefarm. We have worked with some of the guys on this team in the past, and we’re extremely confident about having each other's back in the trenches for many hard rockin' years to come. We're chompin' at the bit to get ROCKIN' and KICKIN' ARSE in 2015 & beyond” – CHEERS from Airbourne.

Says Spinefarm General Manager Worldwide,Jonas Nachsin, who previously worked with the group as Roadrunner President…

“We are so proud to be the new global home for the amazing AIRBOURNE! They are a band who have thrilled audiences around the world with their insanely energetic live shows and wildly anthemic songs, and all of us at Spinefarm are thrilled to be part of their ensuing juggernaut.”

Daniel Lieberberg,Senior Vice President, Universal Music Germany, adds: “Germany, Austria and Switzerland have always been strong markets for this unique band. We’re excited to closely collaborate with Spinefarm Records on our mission to bring Airbourne to a new level in our part of the world.”

2015 finds Airbourne perfectly placed to take things to a new level everywhere, building on their passion, hard graft and heady achievements, and bringing along an ever-growing army of fans for the (white-knuckle) ride; and one thing’s for sure, there’ll be no resting on laurels…

Ask Joel O’Keeffe about his days in college, and his response neatly spotlights ‘The Airbourne Way’…

“I drove by the college on the way to a gig,” he recalls,“this was in the early days, all the gear was in the back of the van. I planned to stop off and pick up the diploma certificate, but in the end I didn’t bother. I didn’t want anything to fall back on, NO Plan B… I knew what I wanted to do, I was committed to Rock’n’Roll, so as far as I was concerned, it was and still is all or nothing.”

VON HERTZEN BROTHERS TO RELEASE SIXTH STUDIO ALBUM,NEW DAY RISING,ON MARCH 23RD‏

VON HERTZEN BROTHERS TO RELEASE SIXTH STUDIO ALBUM,NEW DAY RISING,ON MARCH 23RD
VIA SPINEFARM RECORDS

BESPOKE ALBUM ARTWORK BY SAMULI HEIMONEN REVEALED

HEADLINE UK DATES CONFIRMED FOR APRIL
PRE-ORDERS LIVE + INSTANT GRAT TRACK AVAILABLE VIA iTUNES

The follow-up to ‘Nine Lives’ (2013), ‘New Day Rising’ is the sixth studio album from Von Hertzen Brothers, Finland’s Number One rock act…

This time, the brothers – Mikko, Kie & Jonne Von Hertzen – entered the studio, The Farm in Vancouver, with Grammy-nominated Canadian producer Garth ‘GGGarth’ Richardson (Biffy Clyro, Rage Against The Machine, etc.), plus regular drummer Mikko Kaakkuriniemi & keyboard player Juha Kuoppala, and the result is their most ambitious release to date.

Says Mikko Von Hertzen, VHB frontman: “Working with GGGarth and Randy felt like we finally got to operate with true maestros – the crème de la crème of Canadian know-how. All bullshit aside, the end result is all that matters, and quite frankly, I’ve never been prouder of anything we’ve done. Together we raised the bar to a whole new level, and only time will tell if we’ll ever be able to beat that or raise the bar even more. I mean, we are talking some serious Sergey Bubka heights here!”

GGGarth himself concurs: "It’s been a while since I’ve been so taken aback by a band. VHB did this to me. The brothers’ drive, passion and musicality are like no other. The bar has been raised.”

Mixed by Juno Awards winner Randy Staub (Metallica, Alice In Chains, etc.), ‘New Day Rising’ blends the key elements of VHB’s music – atmosphere, intelligence, epic feel, progressive leanings – with an even greater focus on melody and hooks. A New Day, indeed.

The official track-listing for ‘New Day Rising’ is as follows:-
1. New Day Rising
2. You Don’t Know My Name
3. Trouble
4. Black Rain
5. Hold Me Up
6. Love Burns
7. Dreams
8. Sunday Child
9. The Destitute
10. Hibernating Heart

On the live front, VHB have confirmed an extensive tour of Finland, followed by three dates in the UK (London, Manchester & Nottingham) this coming April.

Pre-orders for ‘New Day Rising’ (the album) are now live, with ‘New Day Rising’ (the lead single / video) available for instant download upon album pre-order via iTunes.

Evil Scarecrow’s missing track finally released!‏

Robototron & the mystery of the missing track!

Evil Scarecrow’s missing track finally released! A message from Dr Hell!
Okay, so when we released Sixty-Six Minutes Past Six (6:66) we felt obligated to try and do something with our most popular track Robototron. The original recording of this was horrible, it made our ears sad and, as with a lot of our original album Crowcifiction, was not really representative of our live show. So we recorded it again. We also made a video for the new recording. We were also thoughtful enough to then include this as a bonus track on the physical 6:66 CD.

But there was a problem. A problem we didn’t even really notice until we started looking at the digital distribution of our latest album.
We never included this bonus track on our digital release of 6:66! This means for the past 6 years the only way people were able to listen to the (half decent) version of Robototron is from the original CD, the video (via Scuzz or youTube) or maybe an illegal download rip of the CD. The poor buggers who bought the album via iTunes/Amazon mp3 or stream our music via services like Spotify have been left with the (kind of embarrassing) original version.

We’re happy to announce though that this hole has now been plugged and you can complete your digital Scarecrow back catalogue with the definitive version of the track, now available through all your favourite digital outlets. "Robototron (2009)” may be 6 years late and not hugely reflective of where are now as a band, but we hope at least the original version will now be quieted in some way and we can try harder to pretend it never happened.

MORDRED officially release new single The Baroness Feb 3rd, Bloodstock Festival slot now confirmed!‏

Following on from their triumphant and long awaited return to these shores, one of the late great John Peel's favourites MORDRED officially release their first new single for over 20 years, THE BARONESS on February 3rd.

As fierce and funky, brash and brilliant as ever, this is a metaliciously groovy taste of what's to come this summer from this innovative band of San Franciscan musicians when they release their long awaited new EP, with an album pending for later in the year.

MORDRED will be supporting this new release with a UK and European tour, including a slot on Sunday on the Sophie Stage at BLOODSTOCK OPEN AIR festival which we're all incredibly stoked about!

This band blazed a rip-roaring trail across both sides of the big pond back in '89 with their superb debut 'Fools Game', it's taken a couple of decades to get them back in full gear again but with a new EP pending, it's a very exciting time for fans, both new and old alike, of this unique bunch of San Fran reprobates!

"..this is a massive performance...highlights, though, are the raptastic Esse Quam Videri and a stunning cover of Thin Lizzy's Johnny The Fox Meets Jimmy The Weed. But the whole occasion is simply a joy. The atmosphere, the musicianship, the song choice... it all works. And Mordred's combination of metal, funk and hip-hop sounds convincingly contemporary"
Malcolm Dome, Metal Hammer

"Mordred's return to Belfast after two decades is nothing less than triumphant....No band has ever really managed to better what Mordred did, and with the prospect of a new release this could hopefully be the beginning of a renaissance for the band. All in all, a faultless gig"
MetalIreland.com

"Back in '91 I heralded Mordred's legendary Marquee show as the greatest night of my life, but....I can safely say I was wrong because some 23 years later I'm finding myself saying it again. Without a shadow of a doubt, Mordred will always be the coolest band to grace stage, vinyl, cassette, disc and ears." Metal Forces.

July 30 Dublin, Ireland, Fibber Magees
July 31 Islington, UK, O2
Aug 1 Wakefield, UK, Warehouse
Aug 2 Glasgow, Scotland, Audio
Aug 5 The Asylum, Birmingham
Aug 6 Manchester, UK, Academy 3
Aug 7 Norwich, UK, Waterfront
Aug 9 Bloodstock Festival, Derby
Aug 12 Inglostadt, Germany, West Park Eventhalle
Aug 13 Tillburg, Netherlands, Little Devil

More dates are currently being added, tickets available from all official online vendors.

Greek Thrashers Biotoxic Warfare Release 'Lobotomized'!‏

Greek Thrashers Biotoxic Warfare Release 'Lobotomized'!

A couple of days ago I posted about Biotoxic Warfare's new title single "Lobotomized" being released and now the record itself is out, so check it out and read all the details below!!....

Lobotomized, the debut album from Greece’s Biotoxic Warfare is out now via Slaney Records.

The eight track, thrash infested opus from the Cretan band sounds like a bastard child between both Teutonic thrash and American death metal. Add to this combination, 'dark melodies, shredding guitar solos and the technical riffing’ that the band say make up their debut release, and you’ve neatly combined a ferocious cocktail that will induce an inevitable, headbanging hangover. What more can you want?

Listen to the band's title track for 'Lobotomized' here
http://youtu.be/yShCdJahEOs

Here’s what press are saying about the album.

"If Lobotomized is a sign for all the good albums that are to come in 2015, then I cannot fucking wait…an amazing start to the year’s metal releases." 10/10 Metal Addicts

"...Eight shots of pure aggression...No pretension, no over the top effects, just pure and simple thrash." Sound the Charge

"There is something magically evil about the music on Lobotomized that leaves you on your knees and begging for more." Two Guys Metal Reviews

Order Lobotomized Here https://slaneyrecords.bandcamp.com/album/biotoxic-warfare-lobotomized

Since their formation little over two years ago and having already supported the likes of Enforcer and Suicidal Angels and released one highly lauded EP, ‘Baptized in Blood and Greed’ [2013], Biotoxic Warfare are emerging from the Greek underbelly as a force to be reckoned with. This is demonstrated in full on their debut album release, Lobotomized.

The band recorded the album at their home studio and went on to have it mixed and mastered by Vaggelis Theodorakis (Revolted Masses). Lobotomized’s artwork, designed by Roberto Toderico, encapsulates the messages from within the album.

The band describe the artwork as depicting “the massive lobotomy and brain washing that terrorizes our society by any organized religion party, and aims to a global propaganda in order to control and twist the freedom of thinking and acting for yourself.”

Lobotomized Track Listing
1. Mors Indecepta
2. Proclaim The Gospel Of Lies
3. Baptized In Blood And Greed
4. Dysphoric Reality
5. Lobotomized
6. Lust For Hate
7. Parasitic Life
8. As We Rot (Promises Of Heaven)

The Mendenhall Experiment Interview - Inspirational Rock!

At the end of 2014 I caught up with inspirational rock band, The Mendenhall Experiment from California to discuss what it's like to be a positive influence, their current EP, "Return To Chaos", the highlights of 2014 and of course what the future holds the band!..

Firstly can I just say it’s fantastic that you are raising awareness and inspiring musicians with disabilities, how does this make you feel to have such a positive impact?

TMX: Thank you very much for having us! Brandon, our founder and rhythm guitarist has cerebral palsy and Nate, our bass player, is hearing impaired and night-blind, so we're proof that disabilities are nothing more than an obstacle, so for people to recognize that and draw inspiration is why we do what we do.

What would you say to fans who are struggling to overcome their disabilities?

TMX: Don't let your disabilities keep you from doing anything you want to do. If you want it enough, and you stick with the plan and work hard enough, anything can happen.

To those who may not have heard your music, how would you describe your sound?

TMX: We are a hard rock band with a bit of alternative metal overtones with inspirational, uplifting lyrics. Anyone can enjoy listening to us, and the diverse crowds we've performed in front of reflect that.

You have currently only released your 2011 EP, ‘Return To Chaos’, are you working on a full length release?  If so, how is this going so far?

Right now, we are currently in the studio working on a follow up EP to "Return to Chaos" that will be released worldwide via Lucent Records and distributed worldwide through Universal Music Group in early spring. It's going very well! The creative juices are flowing like a river and people are going to enjoy it!

What was the recording and writing process like for your EP?

TMX: "Return To Chaos" was written and recorded in 4 different studios in and around Los Angeles from 2009 - 2011 and like most of the TMX material started from original demos written by Brandon.

The songs usually start with demo drums and Brandon's rhythm guitars and then the rest of the band adds more layers to complete the TMX cake.

Following on from that, what would you say your main influences are both creatively and musically?

TMX: Anything with soul!

You have supported and played amongst some big acts, such as POD, Korn, and Megadeth, how does that feel?

TMX- Brandon: it was surreal to support those acts... Some of the greatest moments of our career, getting to stand as peers next the guys that influenced me to start playing guitar and music in the first place.

What can attending fans expect from your live shows?

TMX: Energy. Pure energy. We love being on stage, and we want our fans to have as much fun as we do, so we try to play our best show ever every time!

As we are coming towards the end of the year, what would you say have been the biggest highlights for you as a band?

TMX: 2014 was a huge year for us! We won the Inland Empire Battle of the Bands sponsored by Guitar Center San Bernardino, played at House of Blues Anaheim, , played in front of Citizens Business Bank Arena in Ontario, home of the Ontario Reign for Be The Match Night, and signed a record deal with Lucent Records. There are a lot more, but those were especially cool!

Is there anything you would like to add?

TMX: Just thanks for having us and keep your eyes and ears open for us! Tell your fans anything is possible, you just to go get it!

What else can we expect from The Mendenhall Experiment in 2015?

TMX: Our upcoming EP release should be exciting, and we are really happy for the release of "Mind Over Matter," a documentary on Brandon and his life written, filmed, and directed by the amazing Sebastien Paquet, tour videographer, photographer, and director of media of Korn.com. We'll be on the road as well to support our EP.

ANTI-FLAG SIGN TO SPINEFARM RECORDS

BAND TO RELEASE NEW ALBUM AMERICAN SPRING IN MAY

JANUARY 19th SHOW IN CHARLOTTE, NORTH CAROLINA, TO STREAM ON YAHOO

Spinefarm is thrilled to announce the signing of Pittsburgh's incendiary punk rock iconoclasts Anti-Flag, who have served as a constant voice of and agent for change by advocating peace and human rights through their tireless work with and support of organizations such as Amnesty International, ACLU, Greenpeace, Planned Parenthood, Rainforest Action Network, PETA and more.

Spinefarm welcomes the band to its worldwide roster.

Anti-Flag, who never have and never will shy away from issuing inflammatory, political statements encased in a fast, furious and unforgettable musical package, will releaseAmerican Spring, their Spinefarm debut and tenth album overall, this May. The band last released an album in 2012 in the form ofThe General Strike.

American Spring, produced by AWOLNATION's Kenny Carkeet, Jim Kaufman (Funeral For A Friend, Skindred, Helmet) and Anti-Flag, features a cameo from fellow punk legend Tim Armstrong of Rancid, who appears on the song ‘Brandenburg Gate’, while Rage Against The Machine guitarist Tom Morello is featured on ‘Without End’.

While Anti-Flag spent 2014 hitting stages at major international festivals such as Coachella (US), Sonisphere (UK), Pukkelpop (Belgium) and Glastonbury (UK), 2015 will find the band as in-your-face as ever… as if anything less was possible.

Given the state of the world in 2015, a new Anti-Flag album couldn’t be better timed; this is a record full of fist-in-the-air, sing-along anthems, representing the band's unique world view and serving as informed calls to action.

Full details, such as track-listing and exact release date, will be available in due course; in the meantime, the band has issued the following statement—or perhaps it's more of a warning to the asleep-at-the-wheel masses…

"We are excited to announce that our tenth full-length record will be released on Spinefarm Records this spring. There is no shortage of fodder for a new record of commentary on the social and political climate in 2015: endless wars, the new Jim Crow and American injustice, corprotocracy, environmental coup d'état, the surveillance state, loss, grief and anxiety. We hope that these songs can grant us solace in a seemingly hopeless era.

"It has been frustrating to see much punk rock music —and music in general— quiet in the face of so many atrocities that are taking place around the world. This record is not quiet. If you are disillusioned with the status quo, these songs are for you. The American Spring is now."

Spinefarm Records General Manager Worldwide Jonas Nachsin says:"Anti-Flag are a band with a message certainly, and in addition, the music is just as compelling. This album, our first with the band, is just incredible. While we are happy to help deliver it to their legion of devoted fans, our plan is also to extend it out to those who haven't yet been exposed to this treasured act. We are proud that they chose us to bring on American Spring."

Fans don't have to wait for spring for a taste of Anti-Flag, though!

Greek Thrashers Biotoxic Warfare Unleash New Single From 'Lobotomized'!

In order to whet appetites, Biotoxic Warfare have released a single from their upcoming album ‘Lobotomized’ which is released this coming Monday 19th January via Slaney Records. The track, also named ‘Lobotomized’ is a meaty introduction to the band’s debut full-length release.

Listen to 'Lobotomized' Here!

This is demonstrated in full on their debut album release, ‘Lobotomized’.

‘Lobotomized’ is a blistering aural attack from the start and does not let up the onslaught through the album’s eight tracks. Talking of the album, the band had this to say -

“The sound of ‘Lobotomized’ is mostly influenced by the European Thrash Metal scene (Kreator, Sodom) with a mix of old school American Death Metal (Obituary, Death, Morbid Angel). It also combines dark melodies, shredding guitar solos, technical riffing and many well-combined fragments of the whole extreme metal spectrum.

“Lyrically the album opposes strictly to any religious fanatics and cults who use their lies to control every human being with ambitions to reign upon arrogance and false reality created by religions worldwide since the dawn of time. The lyrics call the people to rise against their oppressors, stand out for what they believe and break the chains that bond both mind and soul.”

The band recorded the album at their home studio and went on to have it mixed and mastered by Vaggelis Theodorakis (Revolted Masses).

‘Lobotomized’’s artwork, designed by Roberto Toderico, encapsulates the messages from within the album. The band describe the artwork as depicting “the massive lobotomy and brain washing that terrorizes our society by any organized religion party, and aims to a global propaganda in order to control and twist the freedom of thinking and acting for yourself.”

KAMELOT SIGNS TO NAPALM RECORDS!

Symphonic Metal Masters KAMELOT entered the studio in mid 2014 to begin recording their follow-up to the highly acclaimed chart topping album Silverthorn. The new album will make KAMELOT history as it will be released worldwide (excl. Asia) on Napalm Records/Universal and Napalm Records/ADA-Warner as an exclusive licensing deal through the band's KAMELOT Music LLC this April/May 2015. In support of this highly anticipated release, KAMELOT will hit the road starting in March for select UK shows, followed by a massive North America Tour this Spring, with special guests Dragonforce (UK). Select Summer Festivals will follow and the band returns to Europe in September/October for their biggest headliner tour to date.
“We are extremely excited about having a growing and hungry independent label like Napalm with the power of major distribution that we will get with Universal and ADA Warner.” states KAMELOT founder and guitarist Thomas Youngblood

Thomas Caser, Vice President of Napalm Records:
“Being a fan since the band’s Epica release it has always been a dream for me to work with KAMELOT! Finally this dream has come true and we at Napalm Records are delighted and honoured to announce this signing. I foresee a bright future and we will spare no effort to bring the band to where they deserve to be – the top! Watch out for the band’s monumental new album this spring and witness KAMELOT & Napalm Records conquering the world in 2015!”

KAMELOT have held their own, very special position in the world of rock and heavy music: their elaborate melodic metal has always opened itself in a remarkably clever way to like-minded styles, integrating progressive elements as well as cross-references to doom/gothic metal and classical music, which have allowed their songs to define their own genre. Two of their most successful releases in particular, namely the albums Karma (2001) and The Black Halo (2005), are prime examples of KAMELOT’s multi-layered approach, intensity and outstanding musicality. Their last effort Silverthorn, saw the band raise this demanding standard even higher, because the album stands the test of time as a true masterpiece of grand gestures, gritty melodies and haunting atmospheres, showcasing KAMELOT at their finest.
