Luna Rise - 'Smoking Kills, But Love Can Break A Heart' EP Review

Luna Rise from Austria are a melodic rock band who intertwine goth, melancholic pop, hard rock and more to unleash something unique and find the balance of heavy yet emotional soothing explorations. Having just recently signed with NRT-Records they decide to re-issue their momentous EP, ‘Smoking Kills, But Love Can Break A Heart’ for those who may have missed it... Opening song, ‘When You Fall’ captures their signature sound perfectly, so it’s no surprise it was released as a single. It’s catchy yet with a heavy backdrop with complex guitar riffs and dark brooding deep vocals, all kept coherent with a flowing current of fierce energy with a slight creepy vibe, aided by the keys, making this a great gothic anthem! ‘Dead Alley’ succeeds in being even more melodic especially as it’s driven by emotion – this is such a slick smooth track, which embodies the dark sound exhibited by the mighty guitars and synths along with the lighter elements portrayed by the lyrics, vocals an

Mannequin - Harpy Doll Review - Extreme Metal With A Twist!

Mannequin are a recently formed extreme metal duo from the North-East of England, consisting of Benjó James (vocals) and Jack Wilson (guitars) who manage to create a hell of a loud high impact sound!.. 'Harpy Doll' taken from their first EP 'From January to Funeral March' is quite something, largely sounding bleak, dark and brutal but with glimpses of hope, shown through the melodic flurries, which strike hard, especially as it's unexpected, but works wonderfully in this brutal relentless track! You are bombarded and astounded throughout this epic seven minute masterpiece, with its fast thrash instruments, gothic creepy undertones, and cunning devious lyrics, which are delivered and match the sound of the song superbly with brilliant extreme vocals from  Benjó .  Benjó's  vocals are made all the more impressive by the fact that he remains audible and understandable still even when screaming, which can be a struggle sometimes within this genre. SPINEFARM DROPS THE NEEDLE FOR RECORD STORE DAY 2015..

Releases from Turbowolf, Atreyu, Venom & SikTh confirmed for April 18th release… SPINEFARM RECORDS will be supporting Record Store Day 2015 with a number of releases highlighting different aspects of the rock ‘n’ metal genre… Taking said genre into brave new worlds are UK riff-gurus Turbowolf, who have just released their new / second studio album, ‘Two Hands’, via Spinefarm Records / Search & Destroy. Having recently toured with both Royal Blood & Death From Above 1979, advocates of the Turbowolf cause, the Bristol quartet are now very much on an upward trajectory, with Radio 1 playing the recent singles (‘Rabbits Foot’ & ‘Nine Lives’), and a headline UK tour currently underway… On the other side of the Atlantic, Atreyu are a band who have already left a serious mark… One of the key architects of the '00s American metal resurgence, selling over a million albums in a 10 year period, the Orange County outfit simmered on the back-burner after 2009… but now

Mammothfest TV - Show 2 - UK Festivals, Extreme Metal, Comedy & Live performances!

Mammothfest tv is an excellent medium to discover and appreciate new emerging and heavyweight metal acts within the UK and around the world, and is something we are in need of, as there's not a lot of shows around like this! Discussed in this latest episode is the thriving metal scene from extreme metal and UK festivals, including Damnation Festival and Temples Festival, and of course previews of the international bands that are due to grace our ears at Mammothfest 2015! They also mention worthy bands that help create the amazing metal scene we have such as: Killswitch Engage, Mask of Judas, Sam Bell Guitar (Mask of Judas), Valis Ablaze, Taken by the Tide, Derelict Dream, Benighted, Cancerous Womb, Abhorrent Decimation, PRIMITIVE MAN, Sea Bastard, Converge, Will Haven, SYN:DROM, Scarred, Damned Spring Fragrantia, Stormcast, Cyclamen, Psycroptic and more! All this is delivered in a sincere, down to earth and passionate manner from founder and creator of Mammothfest, the lege

fREEX Artist Focus - "Free Expression" Champions!

fREEX from San Franciso Bay Area are driving a forefront of an emerging new genre, known as “Free Expression” by creating their own unique sound by using the essence of punk, grunge, funk and more! For their bold and creative methods they are the front runners of this new exciting scene which is waiting to explode! ‘God, I Love America’ is a great introductory to the band’s sound and style and what they embody! Treating us to a bit of blues, melodic harmonies and then manic grunge punk group chants and bursts of loudness to keep you guessing, making a quick transition between mellow sounds and madness in an unpredictable but very welcome manner! ‘Is There Something Wrong’ best displays their elements of alternative rock and pop, especially present in the beaming chorus! This is completely different sounding to the first song I listened to – you wouldn’t know it’s the same band, but just demonstrates their vastness and creative diversity! ‘Mental Rental’ dives right in with s

Majentta - Burst

Looking for upcoming talent which is different and inspiring..Majentta a new female artist from LA is one to look out for! She has just released a new video and single called, 'Burst' which is powerful, atmospheric and haunting, which displays her beautiful unique far reaching vocals which fit the video perfectly. The video itself is mysterious, dark and compelling and more than just your average music video, being more like a mini film, which is rather impressive especially considering by an independent artist; So the video and song combined make quite an first impression! I for one am intrigued to hear more of her sombre alternative rock/pop sound and see how the music will be portrayed visually!  Be sure to check out the brilliant video in question for 'Burst ': https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E8cPGL_Vbms https://majentta.bandcamp.com https://www.facebook.com/majentta
