Klogr - 'Make Your Stand' EP Review

Italian Alternative metal quartet Klogr return with follow up to their album, 'Black Snow' with new EP, 'Make Your Stand'..

The EP kicks off with, 'Breaking Down' which hits hard from the off with it's thrash inspired instruments, interesting dynamic time signatures and Rusty's varied powerful vocals, which are both demanding and melodic. Rusty's vocals perfectly compliment the changeable flow of the complex structure of emotions exhibited through the instruments, which are well executed and demonstrate the bands collective talent and unity!

Next we have the title track, 'Make Your Stand' which features endless intelligible and bouncy guitar work keeping things energetic and memorable. Rusty again shows off his vocal capabilities, going from stand out clean melodic to fierce growls, which adds extra depth and emphasis. To see us out we are graced with more impressive guitar work accompanied by mean grunts and pounding drums, all making for a very catchy title track, which could well be a fan favourite!

To bring the EP to a close is, 'Breathing Heart' which shows off their softer side in this powerhouse ballad, which still packs a punch with it's progressive elements, strong riffs and sinister yet pleasing melodies and sounds! Not to mention one hell of a guitar solo, which you come to expect from guitarist, PQ with the aid of Rusty as back up, he is quite the guitar virtuoso! This last song is the most surprising, and in my opinion is the stand out song of the bunch, showing more emotion, diversity and maturity.

This is a striking EP, fuelled by excitement, creativity, passion and sheer talent! They have a brilliant fresh inspired sound which combines alt rock, metal, thrash and progressive elements, making them a innovative force to be reckoned with! This EP will certainly satisfy existing fans, and is bound to expand their presence and new followers also!

INTERVIEW: Cellar Darling (Switzerland)

INTERVIEW: Cellar Darling (Switzerland)

Cellar Darling is comprised of Anna Murphy, Ivo Henzi, and Merlin Sutter who recently formed following the spilt from previous well-known folk metal band, Eluveitie. The trio have been hard at work since, creating their anticipated debut album 'This Is The Sound' which was released June 30th via Nuclear Blast Records and have impressed fans and press alike with their fresh and unique sound which has been dubbed as "the new wave of folk rock“. This is an exciting and busy time for the band, so I caught up with them to find out about their origins, their new album, touring and what is in store for the band amongst other things..

Can you tell us about the formation of Cellar Darling following leaving your previous band Eluveitie and how the band came to be?
Merlin: What I remember most clearly is how quick it went. As you might know, the whole thing with Eluveitie came very unexpected for us - we were informed of a decision by the remain…

REVIEW: Bobaflex - Eloquent Demons

Hard Rockers Bobaflex from West Virginian are back to wreak havoc with their eighth album ‘Eloquent Demons’ which is the follow to 2015’s ‘Anything That Moves’, this sees not only their first release through Thermal Entertainment but their first actual label release in a while after the band decided to go independent. They are a very hardworking and tireless band, having extensively toured, and even setting records for this, they certainly don’t do anything by half measures.
The opening intro and title track sounds very appropriately evil, with a creepy intro speech to set the scene whilst we wait for the demons to be fully unleashed…
First proper track ‘I Am Nightmare’ immediately sees heavy dark guitars and melodic group singing, which give it a classic feel with a gritty edge and is possesses a hell of a powerful chorus, not to mention a killer solo – this will be hard to forget.
Keeping the momentum going is ‘Long Time Coming’ which is equally as hard-hitting, with groove ridden and…

Interview with Ginger Wildheart & Scott Lee Andrews of Mutation

Mutation are an extreme metal act from the UK formed in 2013 by well-known vocalist/guitarist Ginger Wildheart, the man behind the rock group The Wildhearts and the frontman of Exit International, Scott Lee Andrews. The trio is completed by drummer known as Denzel (Dean Pearson) who has been involved in many projects with Ginger and plays in Young Legionnaire. I caught up with Ginger and Scott to discuss the beginnings of Mutation, the new album '‘Mutation III: Dark Black’, touring, the future, mental health and much more in this interesting and honest interview.

As a musician who has played in many bands, most notably The Wildhearts and formed many projects, how did you come to form Mutation and why when you did?

Ginger: I did it mainly because I wanted to make the music that was in my head, and it didn’t look like anyone else wanted to do it.

At the time I was playing and writing with Michael Monroe, and while I l…
