Abhorrent Decimation Release 'Miasmic Mutation' Full Album Teaser

One of the UK's most promising death metal bands Abhorrent Decimation recently revealed release details for their hugely anticipated debut album, Miasmic Mutation. Out September 25th, and with just over four weeks to D-Day, today marks the unveiling of a full album teaser; a video featuring a short clip from each song.

Recorded and engineered by David Archer in the UK before making its way to Sweden to be mixed & mastered by sound wizard Ronnie Björnström (Aeon, Apostasy, Bodyfarm, Krow), the result is a death metal masterpiece.

In a sub-genre filled with mediocrity and where only those pushing boundaries are rising, Abhorrent Decimation are a breath of fetid air. The band harness a sound that is both brutal and catchy and that appeals to both the old school and the modern death metal fan. With Metal Hammer stating that, "The Londoners' full-length debut will be one of 2015's must-have death metal records," this quintet have hit the nail on the head and are bang on the money.

The band enlisted renowned Swedish artist Pär Olofsson to complete the Miasmic Mutation artwork (as seen above), famed for his work with bands such as Bloodshot Dawn, Exodus, Hour Of Penance and Revocation to name a few.

Abhorrent Decimation will tour throughout the UK in October in support of Miasmic Mutation, dates to follow.

ExoWaves - Side Effects (Double A-Side Single Review)

ExoWaves from Stoke-On-Trent are set to release their Double A-Side single on 6th October 2015, they will unveil their futuristic rock 'n' roll sounds in these two distinct and contrasting tracks...

To kick things off we have, 'Closest Romantic', which showcases their softer fuzzy side, which the masses can enjoy! Zak's vocals are soft yet strong, with a hard edge and compliment the ambient accompanying instruments.

'Side Effects' has a darker gritty vibe, truly embracing the dazed rock 'n' roll sounds, especially with lines such as, “watching my demons come and go from my soul"! That along with snarly shouts, slick riffs and overdrived instrument outbursts as backup, end things on a high impact memorable note!

This is my opinion is the stand out song of the two, but that being said both offer something completely different and are constructed and delivered wonderfully, helping to convey their take and style on the rock 'n' roll genre with a modern revamp! This single release is definitely worth a listen and hopefully will result in a 'wave' of new fans!

Global release date 25 September 2015!

Rammstein made a triumphant return to the U.S. stage for the first time in 10 years, to headline one sold-out concert at New York City’s Madison Square Garden. The venue’s more than 18,000 seats were snatched up for the special appearance within less than 30 minutes of going on sale, heralding Rammstein’s return with a frenzied fanfare on par with the German band’s elaborate stage presentation. On September 25, Island/UMe will release RAMMSTEIN I

N AMERIKA in 2DVD and 2Blu-ray packages, pairing the incendiary Madison Square Garden concert, expertly filmed and recorded in 5.1 surround, with a feature-length documentary film directed by Hannes Rossacher. A 20-minute film about the making of Rammstein’s sixth album, Liebe ist für alle da, is also included.

The two-hour RAMMSTEIN IN AMERIKA documentary throws open the band’s private archives spanning more than 20 years, including a trove of never-before-seen footage. Originated and personally overseen by Rammstein, the film is a fascinating chronological exploration of the band’s history, from the members’ shared experience of limited touring and other creative business opportunities behind the Iron Curtain in their native East Germany to bursting onto the world’s stage as metal/rock heroes after Germany’s reunification. The film follows Rammstein’s first forays into U.S. touring and American music business dealings in the 1990s, their work with David Lynch for the Lost Highway soundtrack, global radio and music television success, and international touring, which included the 1999 arrest of two of the band’s members in Massachusetts for elements of their stage presentation deemed by local police to be “lewd and lascivious behavior.”

The film also goes behind the scenes with Rammstein’s retreat from America in the wake of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks, before concluding with the band’s eventual return to perform in America on November 12, 2010 at Madison Square Garden. In addition to Rammstein’s Till Lindemann (vocals), Richard Z. Kruspe (guitar), Paul Landers (guitar), Oliver Riedel (bass), Flake Lorenz (keyboard), and Christoph Schneider (drums, percussion), several well-known American artists, including Iggy Pop, Chad Smith (Red Hot Chili Peppers), Moby, Melissa Auf der Maur, Marilyn Manson, Kiefer Sutherland, Steven Tyler (Aerosmith), Jonathan Davis (Korn), CJ Ramone, Scott Ian (Anthrax), Slipknot, System of a Down, KISS, and Taylor Momsen, are among the documentary’s diverse and insightful participants.

Shot in high definition with 14 cameras and 5.1 surround audio, Rammstein’s LIVE FROM MADISON SQUARE GARDEN concert film shows the band in full creative stride as they command the stage for their roof-raising return to New York. Rammstein’s complete performance of 18 songs is captured in the film, clocking in for one hour and 41 minutes of visual and sonic annihilation.

Also included is Paul Landers’ 20-minute Making Of Liebe ist für alle da documentary, which takes viewers into the studio during Rammstein’s November/December 2008 sessions for the band’s sixth album in Sonoma, California.

Mataleòn - Debut EP "Perspective of An Idea"

I don't know about you, but sometimes the music just needs to speak for itself, and it doesn't even matter if you don't understand the lyrics..as much as I would like to understand Italian, unfortunately I don't, but that doesn't mean you can't admire and appreciate the debut EP from Milan alt rock act Mataleon!...

Opening song and first single, 'Atari' has very impressive guitar throughout, and demanding energetic vocals, all moulded together wonderfully to make a very catchy and head bang worthy track! This was a wise choice for a single, as its a stand out one that embodies their sound perfectly!

'Ozymandias' is equally enjoyable, being very melodic and pleasing on the ears, with brilliant calming and changing vocals, paired with striking instruments, which take many twists and turns in the right direction..making for a intelligible offering.

'Il Foglio Bianco' is a beautiful powerhouse rock balladesque number, highlighting the talents of vocalist, Tommaso and featuring a very slick and far reaching guitar work and solo from Andrea Giuliani. 'Dove Sei Adesso' is powerful with effective gang chants, strong melodies and oozes style and musicianship, as you come to expect this far into the EP!

'Vorrei' opens on a ambient mellow and calming note, which it maintains throughout, especially in the verses, before the instruments all kick in, providing some great rhythms and a stand out chorus in this more mainstream track.

Final track, 'Fuoco Nella Testa' has a darker side to it than previously. It works well, with Tommaso exercising his vocals more-so, from clean to screams, with exciting fast paced driven hefty instruments to back them up. This is a 'hot' infectious track to end on!..They are on 'fire' so to speak, from the start to the end!

This is one Italian alt rock/metal band you need to make time for! As I said, although not all of us will understand Italian, the whole package is easily appreciated for what it is, and you can hear the emotions and moods intended, conveyed through the sound of the instruments, and vocal changes! This is a strong and diverse debut EP, so keep an eye out, as based on this, we can expect great things from them in the future! "Complimenti" to Mataleon, as they say in Italy!

SikTh and Deaf Havana select unsigned artists to join Breakout line-up!

Returning for its second year, Brighton’s Breakout Festival has once again given unsigned artists the opportunity to grace the stages alongside bands such as Deaf Havana, SikTh, We Are The Ocean, Black Tongue and Martyr Defiled.

Over 270 applications were received for the Headliner’s Choice competition, which puts the decision this year in the hands of SikTh and Deaf Havana. Each headliner chose the band that personally blew them away and the results are in…

Deaf Havana has chosen The Gospel Youth from Brighton www.facebook.com/thegospelyouth

What’s more, the remaining acts who were not chosen will have a further opportunity to get on stage at the festival during the Public Choice vote. They will go head to head to win the support of social media users to compete for the last remaining festival slot.

Regrettably Dead Harts have had to pull out of Breakout Festival since their announcement, but a replacement will be announced shortly. Weesp - The Void (Review) - Minsk Rockers Hit Hard With Electrical Storm!

Alternative electronic rock masters from Minsk finally unleash their first full length album, which they spent three years writing, but now they are ready to grace us with their ‘spacey’ out of this world immense sound!

‘The Void’ is their most experimental, heaviest and biggest release yet, and should put them on the map with their distinct high energy, electrifying rock sounds, and soaring flawless varied vocals, which can be heard particularly in the dark infectious thrilling single, ‘Murderers’ which definitely represents the band’s sound. An absolute must hear comes in form of ‘Omen’, which is dangerously catchy with a dark rave vibe, created by their fantastic use of electronic sounds. This can be enjoyed by the masses, for everyone to go crazy too!! It also features some bad ass fierce screams to make it more deliciously wicked!

Title track, ‘The Void’ provides a different side to the band, and shows of Lex’s flawless and varied vocals wonderfully, before jumping into their groovy upbeat back drop of well-crafted instruments, flowing seamlessly between the transitions that occur, and exhibiting great ambience and atmosphere, something they have no trouble doing! Whilst, ‘Everything Burns’ hits hard, being the heaviest track so far, not to mention exceptionally catchy!

Other highlights include, the fast paced and far reaching intelligible, ‘Full Stop’, which will get you moving in no time, and new single, ‘Solar Empire’, featuring brilliant guest vocals from Cory Brandan of Norma Jean.  It grabs you instantly and asserts itself with strong solid electronic sounds, which have a major emphasis, as well as brilliant thought provoking instrumental sections, all aided by fierce stark vocals from Cory, with contrasting softer vocals from Lex.

The whole album is expertly delivered and constructed by the band and Michael Fossenkemper who mastered it, and they have certainly injected their core and essence into these thirteen songs, which are all consistent and coherent but all offer something different. The band have created an unique, intelligent and exciting sound, which is quite something and hopefully will get the recognition they deserve.

Unlike previous releases, the band also explore with slower paced ambient offerings, such as , the stripped back, ‘Bruises And The Cuts’ and ‘Beware The Blind Spots’ which has superb broody beats and rhythms and clever lyrics; Lex’s use of vocal variation and emphasis have the desired effect, building up tension and emotion.

Even their softer side has a strong heavy back bone, and they have the perfect balance of calm meets the storm...in this case an ‘electrical storm’, which you can only admire and let embrace you, this is evident in ‘Charcoal And Chalk’ especially.  These moments help show of their musicianship and diversity more-so. All the while they offer copious amounts of atmosphere, whether it be dark, moody, hopeful, fun or disturbing...they have it all here in ‘The Void’ – you won’t be able to resist getting pulled in, there’s no turning back once you have experienced it!

Check out the bands latest video for new single, 'Solar Empire' (Feat Cory Brandan of Norma Jean)

Promoting Music & Charity - Review Marathon!!

Apologies in advance before you read this. I'm not usually one to do this sort of thing, so I hope I can be forgiven and that you can bear with me for this special/different post, which isn't just related to music, but I have cunningly combined two things I feel very passionate about!..Music and helping to promote/raise money for charity.

Again I don't like to put my heart out there, but I feel I need to, in order to help my cause and motivate myself..I haven't been very active on my site lately, as I sadly lost my mother recently who encouraged and supported my work, (who by the way had great taste in music - such as Metallica, HIM, Shinedown, Halestorm, Billy Idol ect) who passed away from something called, Septicemia or Sepsis for short, which is a whole-body inflammatory response to an infection. Common signs and symptoms include fever, increased heart rate, increased breathing rate, and confusion. It may not sound life threatening, but unfortunately if not detected and left untreated it is, especially in my mum’s case. As it wasn't diagnosed as this and not treated in time, highlighting that there is not enough awareness for Sepsis, if she had been correctly diagnosed with this, she may well still be here. My mum wasn't exactly healthy, she had Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and myelofibrosis (a rare bone marrow cancer), but both were managed well, my point being, if she was going to go, you would think it would be as a result of this, not just an infection, (which is essentially what Sepsis is) which could be easily prevented. Sepsis is one of the biggest, yet least known causes of death. Every year, more than 100,000 people are admitted to hospital with sepsis and around 37,000 die — more than the number of deaths from breast cancer and bowel cancer combined.

Please see this article from one of the lucky survivors of Sepsis from May this year: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/health/article-3077592/Why-aren-t-doctors-trained-spot-sepsis-killer-claims-37-000-lives-year.html

Anyway to the music part! As I run my own site in a bid to promote upcoming bands, as well as feature big bands and provide news, reviews and interviews. Starting from now I will be adding a donation button to my site, which can be found at the top of my site, to help raise awareness and money for The UK Sepsis Trust: http://sepsistrust.org/  I have done this through JustGiving, so my page link is: https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/Carina-Lawrence/

So if you enjoy my content and want to help me out as a result, please donate (all proceeds will go to the charity), it can be as little as 1p, as it all adds up. Also September 2015 marks Sepsis Month, with World Sepsis day falling on the 13th September. So from now until September I will aim to do as many reviews, and requests as possible to promote the charity and of course the music. If you want to get involved, please get in touch with your request and I will try to get as much reviews and content out as I can, especially in September (a kind of review marathon). Any help and support is very much appreciated. Thank you for reading! I feel bad posting this, but at the same time, people who have lost loved ones, know that it changes you, and this is something I feel I need to do.

I will of course update on progress as go and at end of September! I may decide to carry on longer, or keep as a permanent feature or do one off periods to promote the charity or other charities also.

Thank you so much,
