3 DOORS DOWN PREMIERE OFFICIAL MUSIC VIDEO FOR “IN THE DARK”‏

3 Doors Down have revealed the official video for their latest single “In The Dark,” starring none other than RJ Mitte [Emmy Award®-winning Breaking Bad, Switched At Birth] and directed by the duo of Magnus Jonsson and Martin Landgreve of Gaucho Film [Azealia Banks]. Check it out HERE!

“In The Dark” which is already Top 5 at Active Rock Radio, is the first single from the GRAMMY Award®-nominated multiplatinum Mississippi rock band’s sixth full-length offering, Us And The Night [Spinefarm Records], out in stores and digitally March 11. Pre-order it here.

Huge fans of the music, the star and filmmakers both jumped at the opportunity to work with the band. Now, the video showcases Mittelike you’ve never seen him before. He puts on his headphones, cranks some 3 Doors Down and what ensues is a bit unexpected - with a sexy twist.

On working with the band on the video and the video’s star RJ Mitte, directors Martin Landgreve & Magnus Jonsson commented: “To make music videos were The Gaucho boys' childhood dream, so to make a video for childhood idols 3 Doors Down is incredible. When Republic Records first reached out to us with this project, we called RJ Mitte right away! Explained the project, our idea for the song and he was ecstatic! Turns out RJ is a big 3 Doors Down fan himself, and told us a few memorable stories from his life that were defined by 3 Doors Down. RJ is a born actor, and probably the best we've worked with. He brings a lot to the table and he's just as cool and rock ‘n’ roll as 3 Doors Down themselves-couldn't have been a better choice for the role! Overall a kick ass song, with a fun and twisted video that leaves you wondering. Making this video was a great experience and everyone in and around the team was amazing!”

Echoing the directors’ love of the band, the video’s star RJ Mitte noted: “I had a great time filming this video, and it was great day of shooting with people I consider my friends. Doing music videos are like mini movie sets and you have to connect with the music as well as the director and the team behind the scenes in order to tell the story the way the band envisioned.

I think we have captured it with this video. I’ve always been a fan of the band so this was a great project to work on. I hope everyone enjoys the video, I can’t wait to see it all play out!”

“We came out of the gate with a song that’s really different for us,” says singer Brad Arnold. “We needed to match that with the video, andMagnus, Martin, and RJ brought that vision to life better than we ever could’ve imagined.”

Following 2011’s Time of My Life, which landed at #3 on the Billboard Top 200 and The Greatest Hits in 2012, the band continued its non-stop touring performing for audiences across the globe. Gearing up for Us And The Night the group recorded the album at Rivergate Studios in Nashville, TN with producer Matt Wallace [Maroon 5, Train, Faith No More] over the course of 2015. It nods to the spirit of their breakout debut with seasoned songwriting and the biggest and boldest songs of their 16-year career to date.

Killer Zombie Rock/Metal Songs!

So everyone loves a good Zombie film, program or game! With the recent return of the biggest Zombie TV show, the majorly successful The Walking Dead I thought this would be a good opportunity to look at some of the best zombie inspired/themed rock offerings to 'get your teeth into'! Not all songs are strictly about zombies in this post, and in the extended playlist below, but they are related/associated in some way and can easily be linked to them!

Get yourself in a zombie state of mind below!!

Cast of Season 6 The Walking Dead TV show

To get things in motion in a crazy fast fashion, it has to be what I think is one of the best Zombie inspired songs by one of the biggest metal bands from the US! This song featured on the movie soundtrack for the first Resident Evil film, which is inspired by the popular Capcom games. Be prepared to loose your shit!!

Slipknot - My Plague

It would be offensive to not feature this next song/artist as they embody the very essence of the living dead, and even go as far as to have 'Zombie' in their band name! They are also multi skilled, as well as writing music about the undead, the front-man is also a film director/producer of horror films...

Rob Zombie - Living Dead Girl

This song has to be mentioned - it's relevant, infectiously catchy and fun as hell! The song itself is inspired by a film of the same name and is taken from the
Transylvania 90210: Songs of Death, Dying, and the Dead album. Wednesday 13 is the stage name of Joseph Poole, who is largely know as the front-man of horror punk band, Murderdolls. You seriously need to listen to this!

Wednesday 13 - I Walked With A Zombie

Again drawing influence from the Resident Evil films, this time turning to the third instalment of the films, with Resident Evil Extinction soundtrack, where this song features, as well as playing during the credits. The alt rock band from Las Vegas recorded, "Contagious", which was based on the video game Resident Evil 4.

Searchlight - Contagious

My last zombie contribution comes from a Swedish hard rock band, with the appropriately titled, 'Dead Rising'! They formed back in 1996 and are signed with the popular record label, Spinefarm Records.

Sparzanza - Dead Rising

I haven't featured all the zombie themed songs here, but check out the rest in this deadly playlist I have created!

Enjoy!!

Feel free to get in touch and let me know of your favourite zombie songs! Also if you want me to do a specific feature on something else, drop me a comment or message!

Pegasus - Fairy Tale EP Review

Pegasus are a fresh French metalcore quintet who have previously only released a couple of singles. Now they have more to offer in their debut EP, Fairy Tale which is unleashed to the masses on the 20th February...

Opener, The Shadow Of Our Soul has an ethereal hopeful intro with distant deep screams and melodic ambient riffs. The breakdown is bad ass and it keeps things changeable throughout, making for a thrilling start...

Mirror, Mirror features melodic striking guitars which are highly sonic and resonant, creating a very enjoyable metalcore offering, and showing the high standards and coherency of the EP.

We reach title track, Fairy Tale which opens on a beautiful dream like state, before being treated to some clean vocals here, for effect and emphasis, keeping things diverse and unpredictable. This is a strong number, that portrays the vibe and sound of the overall release wonderfully. It demonstrates them at their best, showing their individual talents, as well as their tight unit performance.

Innocence has a great surrounding presence, resulting in a pleasing extremely tuneful metal track - something they seem to have mastered!

Closing the EP is, Sacrament which is fast and makes for a high impact, with some seriously nasty sounds injected to add to the heavy core that runs through their sound. This is the sort of song that will have the crowd going wild to scream along too!

They have conjured up a interesting complex, and ambient metalcore sound ,which also comes across very professional. For a debut release, this is exciting and has the perfect balance of light and dark moments, making for some extremely melodic metal that should go down a storm! They are early into their career, but this a brilliant start, producing a flawless EP that is satisfying on the ears!

Angerdome - Self Titled EP Review (Get Your Groove On!)

This Italian metal five piece formed in 2012 and released their debut self titled EP late last year, on 31st October 2015. See what they have to offer in their Angerdome...

Opening song, Escape This Reality maintains a dark groove with hard hitting riffs and drums, along with fierce impressive screams from vocalist, Cento, all executed in a very melodic unit; it will have you head-banging in no time! It also possesses nice tones, aided by the production and mastering which asserts itself throughout the EP...

After a memorable introduction, the band fully greet us with, Welcome To Angerdome, which keeps things fast and vicious. Again we are treated to some seriously catchy bouncy melodies, with flawless belligerent vocals, and shows what the band do best where their in their 'zone'.

Direct Result starts with a crashing drum intro with an elongated scream to kick it off, then goes on to feature crushing riffs, and a mental fast chorus, all in all, the 'result' is one well crafted heavy slab of metal!

Shades Fade Colours stampedes ahead, wasting no time, with the unclean vocals and heavy instrumentation working in perfect harmony throughout, and features some of the most mosh worthy moments.

Erase opens on a slower pace, but don't worry it soon picks up, and becomes full blown metal madness, and stands out for the different elements and breakdowns towards the end.

Through The Mirror keeps things steady and maintains the momentum, but it also adds a bit more flair, with the use of dysfunctional effects to add more muster to this already beastly affair!

To close the EP, we have Fuck Your Creed which sounds like its on a rampage, with heavy relentless pounding drums, melodic fast riffs and honest defiant angered vocals. It ends with a extremely catchy metal package that you come to expect, and certainly doesn't disappoint!

There is something very satisfying about their groove ridden thrash metal, even though they largely follow the same formula throughout, I for one didn't get bored and continued to head bang on until the end! It's early days for them, but if they keep up this momentum in their first LP, which they are currently working on, then their popularity and presence within the scene will certainly make headway.

Diverse Rock Love Songs! (Valentines Feature)

The well know Heartagram Logo from Finnish rock band, HIM who describe their music as 'Love Metal.'

Its Valentines day on the February 14th, so I thought I would look at some of my favourite love related metal/rock songs to share with you! I have kept it mostly modern and tried to have a bit of variation, in terms of the lyrical content of love and the spectrum of rock genres, from Classic Rock to Pop Punk! As there is so many to chose from and I have included more in the playlist too!

So first I'm going to kick off with an early Paramore song (the band chose this name, as it was the maiden name of the bass player's mother at the time, then they learnt that 'paramour' meant "secret lover, they adopted name but altered the spelling!)

From their first debut album, All We Know Is Falling (2005) - My Heart

The song closes their debut with a welcomed surprise, being the only Paramore song to feature screamed vocals from then guitarist, Josh Farro who along with Hayley Williams wrote the lyrics for the song. This is still one of my favourite Paramore songs, however some alternative 'love' inspired songs from them, include the beautiful and soothing, The Only Exception taken from Brand New Eyes (2009) and of course, probably their most popular mainstream song from their latest self titled album (2013) with the fuzzy sparkly, Still Into You.

So as I have use HIM's heartagram as the feature photo, instead of the traditional Heart - I of course need to mention them! Although there is plenty to choose, from the love metallers themselves, being practically every song! I have decided to go with one of their old and still most popular songs:

Join Me originally taken from their Razordblade Romance (1999)

Check out many more HIM songs in my playlist at bottom of feature.

Okay so turning things a bit more gritty and sensual with Hard Rock, I have gone for Halestorm with:

I Get Off taken from their self titled album (2009)

Other alternative Halestorm more traditional love themed songs include, Break In and Here In Your Room both from The Strange Case Of...

To lighten things up, with some pop punk, and for all those exciting early nervous relationships when you first start dating, here is Blink 182 with:

First Date taken from Take Off Your Pants And Jacket (2001)

This song captures the fun and awkward side of things perfectly with their catchy young love anthem. Blink 182 first emerged in the 1990's and are considered one of the most influential pop bands, who first popularised the genre, going on to influence other bands.

This wouldn't be complete with a Classic Rock offering! To fit this bill I have turned to Aerosmith and decided to pick their final single from their highly successful album with:

Crazy taken from Get A Grip (1993)

Other Classic Aerosmith songs inlcude, I Don't Want To Miss A Thing & Cryin'

As there are so many to chose from, check out my playlist for more mostly modern rock love themed songs (I will keep adding to it):

So what do you think of these songs? What are some of your favourite love rock songs?! Let me know and I can check them out and add them to the playlist!

Oh and lastly...Happy Valentine's Day everyone!

Myco - Myceliated Single Review

Myco is a psychedelic project created by Kyle Henry from Kansas City, which only launched in December 2015. The name Myco is the scientific term for fungi, and their debut single is in-keeping with this theme, seeing as it is called, "Myceliated" which is about fungus and the influence it has on the universe and the human race...far out right?!...

You are instantly dazzled and pulled in by the synth electro ambience, which is chilled yet has a playful vibe. The guitar has a nice tone, and has some impressive memorable moments, which compliments well with the weird electro sounds. As you may expect, it features some complex and intriguing trippy lyrics such as, "Inside the earth lies plexus of fungus, interconnecting everything symbiosis", which is delivered in a smooth and pleasing vocal performance throughout. The vocals float wonderfully alongside the distant ethereal music, making it easy to lose yourself in their soothing vibrant and strange sounds. For a debut offering this is well composed, produced and mastered. It also stands out with their theme and sound, as they have embraced the idea behind it brilliantly and intelligible to match the music.

Their first EP is due for release shortly, being early 2016, which will feature a range of styles, all being on the psychedelic side though, which you would expect given their band name and concept! So until then, learn about the power of fungi in this debut, and let's see what strange dream like journey's Myco take us on in the future!

Crabitat - Mash Ups & Parodies - Something A Bit Different!

So this is one very unique and strange concept from an artist named Crabitat, aka Mat Edwards from Western Australia, who interestingly is a mine geologist, who wanted to do something entertaining. The first song/parody he created named, #MMM22 | Next Set | Next Step Parody - Kerser on Youtube, received great feedback, with it's impressive funny rap style! Which can be seen here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BajbEPqy5fU

So now they are back with this new mash up in this latest video, titled, Crabitat - Deadset 6 - Kerser Chilli Mash, which was produced by The Crabitat Channel (TCC) - which primarily releases a variety of hermit crab related videos, amongst other things!...I did say it was different!!

The video consists of a mix of a beat taken from SEFFAPEFFA called 'House Summer Beat', a sample from Red Hot Chili Peppers 'By The Way', and lastly as per the first track, from Australia Rap Artist, Kerser with song, 'Deadset 5'. Intrigued?!..How could you not be!..

Check out this weird and wonderful creation for yourself:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ukCuKdfblfo

Also be sure to check out the rest of the fun content down under at The Crabitat Channel, which in summary features as they describe, 'real crabs, fake talking, more laughs!' (something for everyone I think we will all agree!)

OTEP - Unveils Album Details For Upcoming Album!

“Formed from the poetic marrow of creative intercourse, OTEP is an Art Project/Band/Movement/Revolution; Breaking ground. Breaking rules. Breaking barriers. Articulate. Aggressive. Pure Adrenaline. ARTCore of Heavy Mental Rock.” This is how mastermind / vocalist OTEP Shamaya and her allies have been described and this album proves this truth!

The details of OTEP’s seventh studio record and Napalm Records Debut Generation Doom have been revealed. The album is set for an April 15th release. Today the artwork and track listing have been revealed. Initial pre-orders are available HERE.

OTEP on the upcoming release:
“Revolution is the opiate of the artist. In pain. We remain. But healed in the sweet addiction to art. We are. For this album, I unleashed my soul and allowed it to soar freely. I communed with the moon in the chrome of its light. I kissed the sun at its fiery height. I waged war with the Nightmare Kings, I sinned with the opalescent women in the roaring seas of poetry. On a cycloptic mare, hooves made of iron and air, I charged into the inky heart of art and roared at the old gods in the ashes of their ruin, “You can’t look away, WE ARE YOUR MISTAKE. WE.. ARE.. GENERATION DOOM!”

Transcending from the darkness, like wolves into the light, OTEP is an explosion of inspiration and motivation, empowered by their dedication to the arts, being a voice for the voiceless and fighting injustice. Rising from the labyrinth of Los Angeles, California, OTEP is unleashing a roaring anthem titled Generation Doom.

With OTEP Shamaya’s multifaceted vocal approach, from gut wrenching roars to soft seductive poetry to singing with a surprisingly magically beautiful voice, to her evolution as a writer and story teller, Generation Doom erupts with thunderous, punishing grooves that harmoniously detonate into dark industrial fury with magma flows of hard rock melodies that seamlessly shape shift into a mysterious musical beast we’ve just discovered, those who’ve heard Generation Doom say it's best described as “genius, heart stopping and one of a kind.” Where will OTEP`s courageous odyssey take them? Nothing seems impossible.

Generation Doom Track Listing:

1. Zero
2. Feeding Frenzy
3. Lords Of War
4. Royals (Lorde Cover)
5. In Cold Blood
6. Down
7. God Is A Gun
8. Equal Rights, Equal Lefts

WEAK13 - THEY LIVE Debut Album Review!

WEAK13 have created their own unique anthemic grunge rock, fused with punk and industrial elements also. The trio from Kidderminster, UK formed back in 1999 by front-man, Nick J Townsend, eventually consisting of the new permanent three man line-up in 2010. They worked on their debut full length for three years,
which is impressively mastered by, Henry Smithson (Foo Fighters, Stereophonics), and produced by John Stewart (Eight Great Fears). Their long awaited album, follows the release of many raw grunge punk singles, with some controversial videos to accompany! The band aren't afraid to be themselves, and unleash exceptionally honest raw music. Although we are in a time where most will listen digitally to music, I would like to say, it is worth getting the physical CD for the cool wacky artwork, which has been well designed and thought out!

Opening track, 'My Last Summer With You' gets the high energy angst going from the get go, as well as an air of insanity which you welcome from WEAK13 ,and is something they pull of wonderfully throughout! This is a brilliant edgy anthem, and a compelling start to what lies ahead...

'Down On Me' is a dirty straight forward vulgar rock offering, which although is slightly uncomfortable to listen to (which I think is the point!), it is also not taking itself too seriously, but delivered in very catchy package, and will get people talking. They aren't afraid to cross the line, they like to be brash and in your face to make their point!

'Joke' is a grunge tinged mockery, with a metallic hard industrial vibe, with heavy distorted guitars, which will be a fan favourite, for its fun and highly melodic sounds.

'Sex Pest' as you may have guessed from the title, is another filthy upfront track, which comes complete with appropriate sounds to heighten the feel! The chorus is one of the most infectious so far, with front-man, Nick Townsend delivering demanding and erratic vocals that make it stand out further.

'Ashes In Autumn' is the most hopeful sounding song so far, instrumentally anyway. Although the lyrical content is sorrowful, but well written. There is great fluidity and airiness to the instruments, fitting for 'Autumn'! 'Closure' picks up the pace again, and flows on well from last track, as again it possesses a more positive feel.

'Cameras Are Everywhere' embodies the context perfectly, sounding like a crazed malfunctioning machine or robot, with a rhythmic 'droning' vibe. It certainly makes you think of the big brother world we live in! Then, 'Here Come The Drones' adds to the hysteria in this rebellious honest number.

'Happiest Undertaker' puts a morbid positive spin on what most would consider a depressing job! This is very irrational and satirical, but highly enjoyable and comical in a psycho kind of way!

'Loyal Coward' is an upbeat sounding acoustic number in terms of the rhythm and instruments, although it is actually about a love story gone bad. This demonstrates a softer emotive side and shows the band are full of ideas and creativity.

To end this eye opening mad affair is, 'Obey The Slave' which highlights the downfalls of war, in a authoritative and sensical approach.

They Live is an unconventional mental masterpiece! This is strongly created by the genius that is front-man, and longest member, Nick Townsend, for the song writing process and unique creative flair. Every song has such a raw, powerful personal touch, and asserts its meaning and messages in a clever, largely mad delivery. It will certainly make an impact on you, and you will crave more, with their addictive fascinating infectious sounds, and frank lyrics concerning some of society’s taboos.

Check out the politically sarcastic controversial video for 'Joke': https://youtu.be/eMgG-e0c9IY
