London black metallers Akercocke who formed in 1997 and then split in 2012 made a surprise reform last year in 2016, so this is an exciting time for the band as it sees founding members Jason Mendonca and David Gray re-joined by original guitarist Paul Scanlan. The line-up completed by Nathanael Underwood. Hopefully, Mammothfest goers will be fortunate enough to hear some new offerings!

Joining Akercoke on the Saturday is another London act Abhorrent Decimation. The band are favourites at Mammothfest, having played back in 2014 and 2015. Now they are ready to make a triumphant return with their sophomore album ‘The Pardoner’ which is due to be released July 28th. This new album follows their successful 2015 debut ‘Miasmic Mutation’ which received high praise from press and metal fans. It was even heralded as “one of 2015’s must have Death Metal records” by Metal Hammer. Since the release they have done widespread touring including appearances at Bloodstock and went on to sign with Prosthetic Records. The new album is set to be their most inspired and dominating yet, so don’t miss a chance to hear new hefty offerings at Mammothfest.

NEW ADDITIONS AND NEWS FOR SUNDAY 6TH OCTOBER

SUNDAY HEADLINERS - AMENRA (UK EXCLUSIVE)

Mammothfest’s third and final headliner is Belgain post-metal doom act Amenra, who are doing a UK exclusive performance, marking three exclusives for all Mammothfest headliners. Since their formation in 1999 they have been paving their way to success, with critically acclaimed albums, touring with acts such as Neurosis, expanding their sound all of which has earnt them great admiration and a big following, including a collective group of like-minded artists and fans that call themselves ‘Church Of Ra’. As a band that is constantly growing and incredibly hard working and passionate to make a difference, their sixth upcoming album ‘Mass VI’ is definitely one to watch for, and can only be witnessed in the UK at Mammothfest this year.

Genre defining and exciting London act Vodun who have been described as "Like Aretha fronting Royal Blood after imbibing Ayahuasca" - MOJO Magazine and "The new best rock band on the planet" - James McMahon, editor Kerrang, amongst other things just to help add to the intrigue and highlight their impression and distinctive sound and the impact it is having on the metal scene. They released their highly praised full-length debut ‘Possession’ in 2016, so come down and be part of their spiritual celebratory presence that they invoke live, inspired by west African vodu – how could you miss that?!.

Other Sunday additions include Telepathy, Wren, Kurokuma, Solleme and new act Urne, which features ex-members of Hang The Bastard who can be considered to be for fans of Thin Lizzy, The Sword and Danzig. Urne are a band currently wrapped in mystery and that excites us enough to stick them on the bill along with the reputation of the musicians involved. Keep an eye out!

These acts join the already announced Sunday Main stage below:

23:20 - 00:30 Chubby Thunderous Bad Kush Masters (VIP after party band)
21:00 - 22:45 Amenra (UK exclusive)
19:45 - 20:30 Vodun

18:15 - 18:45 Patrick Walker & 40 WATT SUN

14:30 - 15:00 Kurokuma
13:45 - 14:15 Kalloused
13:00 - 13:30 Urne
12:15 - 12:45 Solleme

NEW BANDS ADDED TO RICKSTOCK STAGE - Sunday 8TH OCTOBER

Headlining the Rikstock stage is tech metallers Core of iO, who was born out of a shared enjoyment of technical and melodically intriguing music. Ever since 2014, the four-piece have established themselves on the underground scene, displaying an honest and unapologetically raw sound with their tech flavoured progressive rock. Core of iO are no strangers to hard work, the quartet have already released two EPs to date, as well as a dual single, which landed in 2014. The band have also played Mammothfest in the past and UK Tech-Fest, whilst touring the UK extensively and racking over 250 shows.

Joining them on the Rikstock stage is Polish djent groove metalles Vigil, tech metallers This Is Turin, Sluge act Thuum, the mental and unpredictable Confronted who have quite the reputation live for their antics, and lastly every year Mammothfest brings one band back together as a special one off performance and this year it is Wall Of Denial. They started in 2000 in Brighton, England and created their own unique noise with a blend of Hard Core, Thrash and Heavy Metal. They went on to tour with Norma Jean, The Blamed and played as main support for Dillinger Escape Plan, on more than one occasion at the Concorde 2. They also played festivals like Kerrang All Dayers in London, receiving brilliant reviews for their live performance. The band finally split in 2003 with their final farewell gig to a packed HobGoblin in Brighton, in support were "Counting The Days" better known now as popular British metalcore act "Architects" who also hail from Brighton, and as a final farewell present they covered one of Wall of Denial's songs as their final song of the set! Which brings us to 2017. The band have had the urge in recent years to reform. There had been talk over the years of a reunion but it never felt right. Now it does. What better place than at Mammothfest 2017, a festival set up by a person that truly understands where bands like Wall of Denial come from and digs it. Wall of Denial can not wait to hit the stage, and on their home turf again nonetheless, a very special moment indeed!

The full line-up for the Rikstock stage on Sunday looks like:

20:30 - 21:10 Core of iO
19:00 - 19.30 VIGIL (Poland)
18:30 - 19:00 Thermit (Poland)
17:45 - 18:15 Wall of Denial
17:00 - 17-30 Rotten Foxes
16:15 - 16:45 Negative Measures
15:30 - 16:00 This is Turin
14:45 - 15:15 Thuum
14:00 - 14:30 Confronted
13:15 - 13:45 Pensevor
12:30 - 13:00 Mutually Assured Destruction

Mammothfest have been busy in the run up to the main festival, hosting three Mammothfest ‘presents’ shows between April and May, most recently on May 6thwith headliners Brutality Will Prevail and Raging Speedhorn, ending a run of highly successful, diverse and enjoyable all day gigs in Brighton, UK.

The first event on the 1st April was with headliners Feed The Rhino and saw the launch of Mammothfest’s very own cider range.

Then on the 16th death metallers Vader headlined a special event and unveiled Mammothfest’s new home and venue, The Arch which is located by the beach and centre of the town.

The new venue has gone down well with gig goers at both Vader and Brutality Prevail, as has the launch of Mammothfest cider, selling out at all of the shows and meaning that 420 pints were had across the three shows. Mammothfest cider will, of course, be available at the main festival.

This is one hell of a line-up from Mammothfest and is not to be missed! Mammothfest is incredibly excited and proud to put this bill together, so be sure to join them at this massive event on 6-8th October!

Image may contain: 5 people

WEESP Have Released New Live Song Taken From Upcoming New Album 'Black Sails'!

Alternative electronic rockers WEESP from Minsk, Belarus who formed in 2008 have been delivering their own unique sound, combining elements of electronic, alternative and metal to create their edgy spacey rock. They have since received numerous publications worldwide and have played many gigs, including festivals in Belarus, Russia and Poland.

In 2015 they released their full-length debut album,'The Void' (you can read my review here: http://www.madaboutrock.co.uk/2015/08/weesp-void-review-minsk-rockers-hit.html) which was well received and showcased their diverse and stand out sound. It also featured guest vocals from Cory Brandan of Norma Jean on their single 'Solar Empires'.

Now the band have announced they are working on their second full-length follow-up and are about to start recording this at the Polish studio Hertz (Behemoth, Vader, Decapitated). On the 29th May 2017, they stated that their drummer was at the studio and will have all the recordings for them done in a week. The working title of the new album is 'Black Sails' and it will feature nine new offerings. The producer of the album is well known
Hiili Hiilesma, who has worked with many styles of music but mostly focused on Metal. He has collaborated with many established metal bands, such as HIM, Apocalyptica, The 69 Eyes, Sentenced and Lordi.

In light of this exciting news, they have dropped a teaser of what to expect from the new upcoming album with a live performance video of a new, not yet titled song!

Eighteen Visions Release New Track 'The Disease, The Decline and Wasted Time' Taken From New Album 'XVIII'

EIGHTEEN VISIONS Release New Track ' THE DISEASE, THE DECLINE AND WASTED TIME'
Taken From Long-Awaited New Album XVIII, Out 2nd June Via Rise Records

Eighteen Visions, the seminal metal band that recently announced they had reformed and signed with Rise Records have unleashed a brand new track ' The Disease, The Decline and Wasted Time'taken from their long-awaited new album, XVIII out 2nd June.

"The Disease, The Decline & Wasted time was the first song we wrote for "XVIII." It's heavy and aggressive nature definitely help set the tone for the rest of the album.” says singer James Hart.

Check out the new song below!

XVIII, the reunited and reenergised band’s first new album in over a decade, is both mission statement and battle cry. It’s a blistering, dense, and diverse album. Recharged and newly partnered with Rise Records, 18V sound liberated from the expectations of the outside world and driven only by their own personal and artistic directive. This is the album promised by the raw alchemy of every other Eighteen Visions record. The unrelenting force and unashamed ambition that fueled every stylistic incarnation of this always evolving and never boring band: it’s finally fully realized in the sound of XVIII. The album was made at home in Orange County, with U.K. transplant and multi-instrumentalist producer Mick Kenney at the helm. His close relationship with the guys in the band (vocalist James Hart, guitarist Keith Barney and drummer Trevor Friedrich) lent itself to the most fully realized recording in their discography, emphasizing every strength of 18V’s unique arsenal. Among the album’s many highlights is “Live Again,” a moving tribute to bassist Mick Morris, who passed in 2013, “Picture Perfect” a super heavy, dirgy assault on fakery and wolves in sheep’s clothing, dripping with menacing melody and “Fake Leather Jacket,” a molotov cocktail tossed at the music industry, threatening and staunchly confident.

The full track listening for XVIII is:

1.Crucified
2.The Disease, The Decline, and Wasted Time
3.Underneath My Gun
4. Live Again
5.Laid To Waste in the Shit of Man
6.Oath
7. Spit
8. Picture Perfect
9.Fake Leather Jacket
10. For This I Sacrifice

Eighteen Visions (sometimes stylised as “18 Visions” and regularly name checked by diehard supporters around the world as simply “18V”) were declared part of “The Future of Metal” byRevolver Magazine during their meteoric rise from proto-deathcore indie band, nurtured by the DIY scene, to major label “next big thing” in active rock. A lengthy section of Louder Than Hell: The Definitive Oral History of Metal is dedicated to the passion fuelled Orange County heroes. Their fusion of hardcore punk energy and death metal fury; ‘80s Sunset Strip attitude and ‘70s sexualised charisma; and the dark romanticism of grungy ‘90s alt-rock, became something definitively all of their own. They’ve toured with Lamb Of God, Killswitch Engage, Bullet For My Valentine, Coheed And Cambria, HIM, and fellow OC denizens, Avenged Sevenfold. Their live show is both slick and dangerous, impassioned and full of concentration. 18V is incongruously yet brilliantly suited for both the heyday of arena rock and gatherings in sweaty basements.

Eighteen Visions will perform fan favourites and new songs—on 2nd June, when they take the stage for the first time in ten years for a record release show at The Observatory in Orange County. Click HERE for tickets.

Italian Metallers Tethra To Stream Live Show On June 8th!

Italian Metallers Tethra To Stream 'Closed Doors' Full Show On Facebook On June 8th To Support Genre And Highlight Issue Of Venues Closing

Italian metal act Tethra are passionate about emerging artists and they are on a mission to increase the numbers of people that attend smaller, club sized venues in not just Italy, but on a worldwide scale, stating:

"In recent years, many small and medium-sized clubs dedicated to metal music have closed or changed their genre because of the low attendance at the concerts.

It's a global phenomenon that, if it does not have a clear turnabout, will oblige all industry employees to make drastic decisions."

So, Tethra, would like to raise awareness amongst all fans of this genre about this topic, assuming a catastrophic scenario for the next future: what will happen when the last live club will also close? Will emerging bands play no more or will they totally rely on live streaming from rehearsal studios and improvised venues?

For this reason, on Thursday 8th June at 10pm (Italian time) and 9pm (UK), Tethra will play a full set live streaming show in a real live venue open just for them, furthermore, to give everyone the opportunity to participate in this event, they will keep the video online for 24 hours.

You can follow the event through Tethra's Facebook page: www.facebook.com/TethraHell and for the direct event page link visit: https://www.facebook.com/events/1678452952183598/

This is Tethra's contribution to the cause, hoping to be able to induce a reflection before this catastrophic scenario becomes a reality because on June 8th they will create a paradox that more than one band has had to endure in its career: playing in an empty room ... will you be with Tethra?

About Tethra:

Tethra’s full-length album, “Like Crows for The Earth”, which was recorded and mixed by Matt Stancioiu (Labyrinth) at Elnor Studios and mastered by Greg Chandles (Esoteric) at Priory Studios. reveals how much the band has evolved sonically since their 2013 album, "Drown into the Sea of Life". The album was released in Europe on February 11th via Sliptrick Records, with a US release in the pipelines on July 23rd.

Tethra produces elements such as acoustic breaks, striking solos and Doom-influenced melodies are mixed with charismatic vocals courtesy of the versatile frontman Clode Tethra. Blending gloomy Doom Metal, raging Death Metal and melodic early 90s Gothic Metal tinged vocals, Tethra will be the last nail on your cross.

Between 2011 and 2012, Tethra’s reputation grew, earning them spots in supporting the likes of Sepultura, Daylight Dies, Saturnus, Forgotten Tomb, Sadist, The Foreshadowing, Jackfrost and performing at Malta Doom Fest. In 2013, the Italians released their debut album, "Drown into the Sea of Life", a concept album where the theme was focused on water.

Tethra's new album 'Like Crows For The Earth' is out now in Europe and released July 23rd in the US.

I got the idea for writing lyrics on the topic whilst reading "A New Earth" by Eckhart Tolle."
