AKERCOCKE to perform worldwide exclusive album set at FORTRESS FESTIVAL 2026

  Fortress Festival, one of Europe’s biggest black metal festivals, has revealed two more bands for its fourth edition set to take place at Scarborough Spa on 30-31 May 2026. London's Akercocke will perform a worldwide exclusive full album set of their acclaimed 2003 release, “Choronzon”. The album was praised by the scene when it was released, with many publications naming it album of the year, including Kerrang! and Terrorizer. Formed in 1997, the band is known for their extreme sound that blends death, black and progressive metal elements. Akercocke said: "Akercocke will perform Choronzon, in full, at this historic venue. As we begin the countdown to May 2026 we invite all to join us in celebrating Choronzon at this truly special event." Joining the bill are Norwegian black metal duo Whoredom Rife, who will headline the Ocean Room. FORTRESS FESTIVAL unveils 13 new bands for 2026

  Fortress Festival, one of Europe’s biggest black metal festivals, has revealed thirteen new bands for the fourth edition of the event set to take place at Scarborough Spa on 30-31 May 2026. Following the earlier announcement of Old Man's Child, the project of longtime ex-Dimmu Borgir guitarist Galder, as the Saturday headliner, the festival will be closed on Sunday by Gallowbraid, the US black/folk metal project of Jake Rogers, in what will be the project's worldwide live debut. The Norwegian experimental black metal band Dødheimsgard will perform their latest album “Black Medium Current” in its entirety and exclusively at Fortress. The American atmospheric black metal band Abigail Williams will return to the UK for the first time in eight years for a UK exclusive - and potentially final ever UK - set at Fortress Festival. Misþyrming confirmed for FORTRESS FESTIVAL 2024 as second stage headliner

  Scarborough, UK; 26.11.23: Following last month’s reveal of headline shows from Triptykon, Wolves in The Throne Room and Regarde Les Hommes Tomber, Fortress Festival has confirmed Icelandic black metal act Misþyrming as the next and final headline act of the black metal festival set to take place on 1-2 June 2024 in Scarborough, UK. A UK exclusive performance for 2024, Misþyrming will headline the second stage of the black metal festival. Fortress Festival has also unveiled the event poster for which the illustration was created by Hester Aspland. Misþyrming join a stellar line-up of special bands and exclusive shows. TRIPTYKON & WOLVES IN THE THRONE ROOM exclusive sets among latest additions to FORTRESS FESTIVAL line-up

  Scarborough, UK; 31.10.23: Fortress Festival has revealed ten more bands set to perform at the event, which promises to be the biggest and loudest black metal event in the UK in June 2024. Set to take place at the iconic Scarborough Spa in North Yorkshire, the festival has unveiled its two main stage headliners - Triptykon and Wolves in the Throne Room - and one of the second stage headliners: Regarde Les Hommes Tomber. Performances from Triptykon and Regarde Les Hommes Tomber will be UK exclusive shows for 2024 whereas Wolves in the Throne Room will present a 2024 UK exclusive “Two Hunters” set - this will be the first time the iconic album will be performed live in the UK.
