Alkaline Trio Release Travis Barker Produced Single "Surprise Surprise" & Spooktacular Video

Alkaline Trio marked Halloween with the release of new single “Surprise Surprise.” The third of the band’s current triptych of standalone 7-inch vinyl and digital singles, “Surprise Surprise” lives up to its name with one of the most sonically subdued and viscerally vulnerable performances in Alkaline Trio’s storied history. Trio singer and guitarist Matt Skiba said of the song, “‘Surprise Surprise’ was inspired by and written for a friend of mine who grew up poor and entrenched in gang life, only to become a Navy SEAL and eventually an astronaut. It’s his story, combined with my own thoughts regarding how a sort of alchemy takes place when someone takes the experiences of a bad situation and is able to turn them into something profound and beautiful. The rough sketch of the song had only verse and chorus parts but no bridge which was written by Dan in the studio. This song was the last one of the three we did in this session with Travis Barker and was even more of a collaboratio...

Alkaline Trio Release New Travis Barker Produced Single "Bleeding Out"

So goes the invitation that opens Alkaline Trio’s sparkling new single “Bleeding Out.” Yet another prime example of the Trio's insidious blend of melodic sweetness and lyrical darkness, “Bleeding Out” is buoyed by a relentless rhythmic backbone that repeatedly explodes into one of the band’s unmistakable singalong choruses — Be prepared for this one to stick in your head for days. “Bleeding Out” follows the recently released banger “Oblivion” as the second of three songs Alkaline Trio recorded with producer Travis Barker of Blink 182 — the first studio sessions to feature the current Trio lineup of founding guitarist/vocalist Matt Skiba, longtime bassist/vocalist Dan Andriano and drummer Atom Willard. Available now across digital platforms, “Bleeding Out” will also be released as a limited edition D2C exclusive colour vinyl 7-inch. Also unveiled today is the official “Bleeding Out” music video, which finds director Mark Eaton capturing the raw power of a close-quarters Alkaline ...

Alkaline Trio Release Double A-Side Single "The Sacrifice" / "At Sickness"

If 11 tracks worth of Blood, Hair, and Eyeballs wasn’t enough for you, your luck has taken a sweet and dark turn: Today marks the release of two all-new, previously unheard Alkaline Trio songs. “The Sacrifice” and “At Sickness” are now available everywhere as a double A-side digital single. Listen to the new songs below: Additionally, “The Sacrifice” and “At Sickness” will be released October 18th as a limited edition 7” vinyl in two variants, available exclusively via alkalinetrio.com and RiseRecords.com . Guitarist/vocalist Matt Skiba commented: "We are very excited to be releasing these two songs as a seven inch. Putting out an EP on 7” vinyl is something we haven’t had the opportunity to do for a long time, so having two new songs to offer up on such a classic format is fun for us as vinyl enthusiasts. Both 'At Sickness' and 'The Sacrifice' were initially written and recorded for our Blood, Hair, and Eyeballs album and leaving them off the record wasn’t ...

Alkaline Trio Release Acclaimed New Album "Blood, Hair, and Eyeballs" + Watch The Video for "Break"

'“Blood, Hair, and Eyeballs” arrival is heralded by the latest video from the album, this time for standout track “Break.” Premiering yesterday on rollingstone.com , “Break” captures the dark, alluring energy of a classic Alkaline Trio performance in stark and vivid black and white, the song’s infectious hooks and melodies offset — or possibly enhanced — by its backdrop of the Bob Baker Marionette Theater in Los Angeles. “You ever see someone having such a horrible nervous breakdown that it looks like they’re dancing?” asks Alkaline Trio guitarist/vocalist Matt Skiba. "Me neither. But this song is sorta' about that.” Alkaline Trio dropped in at another hallowed L.A. theater earlier this week, taking the stage at Hollywood’s El Capitan Theatre as music guest for Tuesday’s episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live! — To watch Skiba, bassist/vocalist Dan Andriano and new drummer Atom Willard knock out a captivating “Bad Time,” go to https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d0hQLVroxWo Blood, H...

Alkaline Trio Release New Single "Bad Time"

Alkaline Trio serves up another helping of Blood, Hair, and Eyeballs in the form of “Bad Time,” the darkly melodic second track to be released from their 10th album, due January 26th, 2024 on Rise Records. “Bad Time” follows last month’s unveiling of the album’s frenetic title track — hailed by Consequence for its “fresh approach” and by Brooklyn Vegan as "classic Alkaline Trio… their grim yet catchy punk sounds as unmistakable as ever” — with a more subdued yet no less intense vibe. This makes perfect sense, as the lyrics find Trio guitarist/vocalist Matt Skiba finding the eyes of multiple storms in the form of the same friend’s voice: “‘Bad Time' was initially inspired by a friend and crush who happened to call me while I was on tour in El Paso, Texas as an active shooter situation was happening just across from where we were staying. We could hear gunshots and sirens as the situation escalated. My friend asked if it was a bad time to talk, and I said no — I really wanted ...
