Red Martian - Slow Motion Samurai

Red Martian from Seattle, Washington as their name may suggest, are trying to be out of the ordinary, and their neue shoegazer genre certainly achieves this..if you haven't yet had the pleasure of hearing this band, you are in for a real surprise, in what is arguable their best material yet.. To open we have the title track, 'Slow Motion Samurai' which has an hopeful instrumental sound, before taking a downbeat approach with sombre vocals and bouncy airy riffs, making an interesting and intriguing contrast which works well, and more importantly showcases their unique style immediately.. 'Emeraldas' shakes things up more-so, by taking a big leap from the opener, with memorable and discombobulating guitars, this one is laced with a raw punk sound and enthralling unusual demanding vocals. Red Martian - Ghost Into The Fog EP Review

Red Martian describe their sound as neue-shoegazer, as they are trying to bring back this genre from the late 80s/early 90s that was born, known as Post-Paisley Underground but they have done so with a modern twist, to help create their own 'alien' sound on their new concept EP.. Opening title track, "Ghost Into The Fog" is highly atmospheric and melodic, with well written lyrics and vocals that sound distant from front-man, Stephen..like that of objects clouded by 'fog'. This is an intelligible offering which makes for a great opener! "None" sounds instantly more upbeat with solid rock vibes still, and brilliant instrumental sections to lose yourself in, and transcend even further, with spacey sounding vocals to add to the ambient huge presence this one has.
