FangSlinger Return With 'Blood Curse' Single & Video

With their debut single 'The Lost Souls Saloon' earning critical acclaim, FangSlinger have already begun carving their legend as a band creating an immersive experience through their gothic storytelling and interfusion of hard rock, country and blues. They now raise their stakes further with the release of their new offering 'Blood Curse' - officially unleashed on 10th January 2025. Matt’s mum Fiona Long has also set up a GoFundMe page aiming to raise £100,000 for private treatment in the US for his cancer treatment. A description on the Crowdfunder reads: ‘Matt has been battling bowel cancer for just under a year and despite surgery and chemo, his latest scan shows that the cancer has spread into his liver and stomach lining. His cancer team have said although there is the option of trying a different type of chemo, they don’t hold out much hope that it will cure him and is likely to at best extend his life a little. There is an option to have a sample of the tumour sequenced which will give us the maximum amount of information on its make up, which will then show the cancer team exactly what drugs to use to damage it - to either slow it down, or there is just a small chance that they...

SmartBlackKid - "The Best Of SmartBlackKid Vol. 1" Album Review

SmartBlackKid is a multi-talented one man band, all performed by Hakhi Alakhun. He has impressively produced and released ten albums spanning many genres, and with his eleventh release, he has complied the ultimate collection of his songs over his career, in this 'Best Of' album, making for a great opportunity for existing fans to catch up on, and of course for new fans to discover... To get things started we have, "Stand Up" which is ultra smooth with it's beats and rhythms, along with melodic memorable guitar work, with refreshing and charming vocals, all delivered with style! Single "Free Thought" has great catchy hooks and an classic rock vibe, but with a upbeat modern twist, making it a perfect choice for a single and his creative sound offers something a bit different, which is always nice to see.. "Powerful" immediately highlights Hakhi's guitar skills yet again, with ambient and bouncy riffs throughout, with equally pow...

fREEX Artist Focus - "Free Expression" Champions!

fREEX from San Franciso Bay Area are driving a forefront of an emerging new genre, known as “Free Expression” by creating their own unique sound by using the essence of punk, grunge, funk and more! For their bold and creative methods they are the front runners of this new exciting scene which is waiting to explode! ‘God, I Love America’ is a great introductory to the band’s sound and style and what they embody! Treating us to a bit of blues, melodic harmonies and then manic grunge punk group chants and bursts of loudness to keep you guessing, making a quick transition between mellow sounds and madness in an unpredictable but very welcome manner! ‘Is There Something Wrong’ best displays their elements of alternative rock and pop, especially present in the beaming chorus! This is completely different sounding to the first song I listened to – you wouldn’t know it’s the same band, but just demonstrates their vastness and creative diversity! ‘Mental Rental’ dives right in with s...

ARJUN - CORE Album Review

This three piece instrumental act from New York have put in a lot of effort to form their own unique sound by using elements of rock, jazz and experimentalism, and now they are back with their follow up to their trilogy "Space”, which was the first in a three-album trilogy, with the second ‘piece’ of the puzzle, “CORE” to untangle more creativity from the band..   Opening song, “Rocks” has a hopeful feel to it before sliding into a plethora of carefully constructed melodies and tones which help unravel a story solely through the use of clever instrumentation. You are left hanging on to every note that resonates out… “Deep Impact” continues this notion and the drums stand out more here, complementing the bass beats and melodic guitar riffs, along with a superb solo which highlights Arun’s talents further. Single “Core” changes dynamics, opening on a warped spacey experimental sound, then quickly transpires to a jazz blues vibe, i...

Adam Havick - Ordinary Man EP Review

Adam Havick from New York is a singer/songwriter who has been performing for almost a decade, inspired by the likes of Tom Petty, Elvis Costello and Billy Joel. This is Adam's fourth EP and along his musical endeavours found his band mates and musicans to work and help him to shape his unique and defining sound. The EP is boasting brilliant and witty artwork, that contains a warning of 'catchy tunes' and explains 'may have difficulty putting down' which only adds to the intrigue and charm before you have even listened.. Opening song, 'Let Me Let You' has an old bluesy feel with a modern edge and is charming and easy on the ears with smooth fun vocals. Although the arrangement is fairly simple its executed wonderfully. To add to the blues vibes it features a super slick impressive guitar solo by Douglas Charles Showalter which gives it more power as well as some great screamed vocals really embracing the genre and mood! 'Halfhearted Attempt...
