The Lords Of Altamont Are Ready To Unleash New Album "The Wild Sounds Of Lords Of Altamont" On Heavy Psych Sounds Let's welcome the L.A combo back and hit the road to rock'n'roll with them 'Savage 4'! Let the turntable roll and the record spin with The Wild Sound of Lords of Altamont, carefully produced at Kitten Robot Studios in the City of Angels by punk rock legend Paul Roessler (former Screamers member) and analog-mastered by Dave Schultz at D2 Mastering Lab! A hammered 4-stroke beat like a twin cylinder engine running on idle, a roaring guitar riff revving up the rpms of the iron-built motorcycle-inspired band, then the fresh and insisting breeze of a Farfisa organ whispering 'let's ride' and a heavy bass greasing up the reliable crank and rods of that authentic rock'n'roll machine, and there goes, ladies and gents, the mighty LORDS OF ALTAMONT combo! Riding hard on backyard-built, loud pipes and rigid frame undestructible ra...

Catalina Shortwave - Radio Voodoo: Songs From The Dark End Of The Dial

Catalina Shortwave, are a diverse Rock 'N' Roll five piece band, that started in 2013, releasing their debut, 'Repeater' in 2014. Then they hit again with their sophomore release,  'Radio Voodoo: Songs From The Dark End Of The Dial' in 2015. 'Your Old Letters' is a true and solid bluesy rock number, showcasing vocalist, David Rizzo's smooth yet fierce demanding authoritative vocals. We are graced with some serious impressive guitar work and solo from Marty Stauffer and Keith Morey. The whole song is dripping with style and is a great way to start and introduce their sound. 'Here Today, Gone Tomorrow' picks up the pace, with some interesting melodies and rhythms, which are all as slick as hell, featuring catchy riffs and crashing drums. This has a chilled sexy laid back feel at times, especially in the cool straight talking stripped down section, with some unexpected punk inspired riffs for good measure. 'Breakaway' slows thin...

Bag Of Nickels - "Amen" Album Review

Bag Of Nickels from Wilmington, Delaware have been through some hard times, and have just come back after a hiatus with their third independent release, "Amen" which impressively was produced by Dennis Prado and co-produced/mixed with Philadelphia-based, grammy-award winning engineer, Mike Tarsia. To open the album, "Hold Your Form" has smooth, groovy and slick rock 'n' roll tones, with resonant effective vocals, all delivered in style, and takes us back to more old school sounds with notable guitar work..it sounds like they are back and on top 'form'! Next with have, "Impurities" which has some brilliant rhythms and melodies..it's really quite hard to find any faults here! "Trapper Keeper" has a guest appearance from, Danny Carmona, which gives it a different feel and dynamic, whilst in-keeping with the rest of the songs so far.. Again we see Danny Carmona appear in, "The Set Up", which has a great lively...

ExoWaves - Side Effects (Double A-Side Single Review)

ExoWaves from Stoke-On-Trent are set to release their Double A-Side single on 6th October 2015, they will unveil their futuristic rock 'n' roll sounds in these two distinct and contrasting tracks... To kick things off we have, 'Closest Romantic', which showcases their softer fuzzy side, which the masses can enjoy! Zak's vocals are soft yet strong, with a hard edge and compliment the ambient accompanying instruments. 'Side Effects' has a darker gritty vibe, truly embracing the dazed rock 'n' roll sounds, especially with lines such as, “watching my demons come and go from my soul"! That along with snarly shouts, slick riffs and overdrived instrument outbursts as backup, end things on a high impact memorable note! This is my opinion is the stand out song of the two, but that being said both offer something completely different and are constructed and delivered wonderfully, helping to convey their take and style on the rock '...

fREEX Artist Focus - "Free Expression" Champions!

fREEX from San Franciso Bay Area are driving a forefront of an emerging new genre, known as “Free Expression” by creating their own unique sound by using the essence of punk, grunge, funk and more! For their bold and creative methods they are the front runners of this new exciting scene which is waiting to explode! ‘God, I Love America’ is a great introductory to the band’s sound and style and what they embody! Treating us to a bit of blues, melodic harmonies and then manic grunge punk group chants and bursts of loudness to keep you guessing, making a quick transition between mellow sounds and madness in an unpredictable but very welcome manner! ‘Is There Something Wrong’ best displays their elements of alternative rock and pop, especially present in the beaming chorus! This is completely different sounding to the first song I listened to – you wouldn’t know it’s the same band, but just demonstrates their vastness and creative diversity! ‘Mental Rental’ dives right in with s...

Matthew Heller - 'Tragedy Town' EP Review

Singer-songwriter, Matthew Heller from Oregon captures his many talents and influences wonderfully on new EP, ‘Tragedy Town, which considering it only consists of four songs is quite impressive... Opener, ‘Ray Gun’ hits quickly and hard with its catchy old school sound tinged with elements of indie rock, with gritty angsty vocals and rebellious instruments, all presented and arranged in an effective and memorable flash! Title song, ‘Tragedy Town’ opens on muddy guitars with a bleak feel, aided by the slow and clean vocals presented using interesting rhythms, melodies and chord structures - ‘tragedy’ will stick with you even with its short presence! ‘No Army’ has a brilliant country acoustic intro and shows off the most diversity with folk inspired instruments mixing acoustic and electric guitars to create a wonderful fast paced folk concoction, with its use of string instruments adding more depth and layers to the many explorations of Matthew’s sounds! He may not have ...

Thirteen Shots - 'First American Sweetheart' Single Review

Founded in 2011 in Birmingham, England, Thirteen Shots comprised of Johnny Rose, Chelsea, George and Lewis Lew have been treating fans to their B Movie inspired garage rock 'n' roll sound ever since! They have released two albums which combine the likes of punk, psychobilly and retro garage rock to create their own unique sound and now they are back with their new single, 'First American Sweetheart' which is inspired by the romance of the silent film era and the star of the silver screen, Mary Pickford. The song itself has strong catchy rhythms driving it and is highly dynamic and energetic with well written lyrics to fit the cause! You can hear their various influences of genres; from punk shown through the instrumentation and the gravelly vocals presented with attitude and rock 'n' roll inspired riffs all packed into this anthemic tribute, which is all delivered well and makes for a tribute to be proud of! Thirteen Shots have created themselves an inter...
