Mannequin - Harpy Doll Review - Extreme Metal With A Twist!

Mannequin are a recently formed extreme metal duo from the North-East of England, consisting of Benjó James (vocals) and Jack Wilson (guitars) who manage to create a hell of a loud high impact sound!.. 'Harpy Doll' taken from their first EP 'From January to Funeral March' is quite something, largely sounding bleak, dark and brutal but with glimpses of hope, shown through the melodic flurries, which strike hard, especially as it's unexpected, but works wonderfully in this brutal relentless track! You are bombarded and astounded throughout this epic seven minute masterpiece, with its fast thrash instruments, gothic creepy undertones, and cunning devious lyrics, which are delivered and match the sound of the song superbly with brilliant extreme vocals from  Benjó .  Benjó's  vocals are made all the more impressive by the fact that he remains audible and understandable still even when screaming, which can be a struggle sometimes within this genre.
