Devin Townsend announces new studio album ‘PowerNerd’ & releases video for title track

Devin Townsend is pleased to announce the release of his forthcoming new studio album ‘PowerNerd’ on the 25th October 2024 (InsideOutMusic). Devin Townsend’s career is one of many distinct eras. He’s been the leader of Strapping Young Lad, the lynchpin of the Devin Townsend Project and the co-architect of country duo Casualties of Cool, all while maintaining his prolific and lauded solo project. Now, the polymath’s newest era starts with ‘PowerNerd’. “It was a conscious thing,” Devin says of his brand-new album, the music on which he wrote in just 11 days. “I thought, ‘I’ve spent so much time overthinking every aspect of my work – what would happen if I didn’t?’ Maybe I would have the opportunity to be a bit more direct with what it is that I’m trying to do. I really wanted to see if I could cut through some of the meandering.” A song that embodies that, is the album’s title track (which features a guest spot from Jamey Jasta), and you can watch the video for that high-speed ramp...

Hei’An Release New Video Single "noises" Ahead Of Album "imago" Out Tomorrow

The wait is over: Hei’An are finally releasing their monumental post-progressive album imago, and the trailing piece in the band’s pentalogy of carefully crafted video singles, titled noises. Contradicting said title in an unexpected way, noises starts off slow and in a dignified manner, adding layers piece by piece until it all erupts in a festive crescendo with a positive message hidden deep inside: “Probably our favorite song off the record, it’s our most 'modern-sounding' song, with a lot of synths and pads, beautiful orchestrations and catchy melodies, with some progressive elements hidden in there, but really elegantly, so if you are not paying attention, it comes off as rather ‘simple’. It sounds huge, though – the whole song is a big buildup towards a majestic resolution for the end of the song. We are really looking forward to this one, it’s essentially about finding peace within yourself.” The official animated video for noises creates the perfect atmosphere for thi...

Karnivool Announce Rescheduled UK/European Dates

Karnivool are sadly moving their 2022 UK and European tour back to January and February 2023 The band comments: “Having already rescheduled our European shows once, we have tried every which way to make them happen this year, but we are in the unavoidable position where we must move The Regeneration Tour - again. We could put out some lame excuse but that would be a disservice to all of you and to everyone who has tried so hard to make it happen. So here is the reality for a band from Perth, Western Australia: touring internationally is a risky business especially for artists who don’t want to compromise their show and we have always accepted that, but for us right now a significant financial blow - on top the pummelling we took in the last two years - would be, frankly, the end of the band. Between the extra costs around touring in a covid safe manner or having to cancel shows overseas at extremely short notice, insurance for covid being unavailable and now large currency flu...

With “I Am In Control, Pt. I” the story continues, accompanied by another animated music video. Check out the video for "I Am In Control, Pt. I': Groovy, heavy and catchy at the same time – one never experienced Monosphere as extreme, as on this track. “I Am In Control, Pt. I” culminates the different influences of the band into one shape: In between post-black metal, technical death metal and contrasting prog metal, and thanks to an astounding vocal performance by The Hirsch Effekt singer Nils Wittrock, Monosphere offer a rhythmically focused, modern mathcore sound, combined with catchy prog metal elements that might remind some of Between The Buried And Me or Devin Townsend Project. “’I Am In Control, Pt. Belgian Stoner/Progressive/ Metal/Rock band BufferState releases debut music video for 'Archean'

Belgian Stoner/Progressive/ Metal/Rock band BufferState releases its very first music video. The song this video is about is called “Archean”, taken from their first EP 'Anthropy' which came out on Nov 10th 2018 as an Independent Release. The video for “Archean” can be found here: https://youtu.be/76EOUuPiHxY Together with Josse de Maesschalk(aka WAANZIN), BufferState has now released their first music video. The song is an archetype of the band’s very particular, uncompromising sound. The lyrical theme is aggressive at first sight, very militaristic and us-versus-them. Having most fun when being creative, the story has been rewritten from scratch to the same theme for this video. Still, the images of the video match the feeling of the original lyrics and, of course, the flow of the song. BufferState is extremely proud of this cooperation with the up-and-coming movie talent of Josse de Maesschalk(aka WAANZIN). Creativity, community, engaging with other artists...

BLIND GUARDIAN's TWILIGHT ORCHESTRA launch official lyric for new single 'Point Of No Return'

Promising to be one of the most ambitious projects in metal history, BLIND GUARDIAN's forthcoming release will be well worth the wait. The idea of recording an orchestral album originally formed in the minds of the two leading lights of the BLIND GUARDIAN universe - guitarist André Olbrich and singer Hansi Kürsch - during the 1990's when BLIND GUARDIAN started to use orchestral elements to enhance their opulent sound. The monumental project started to take shape over recent years, and mirroring its epic sound cascades, the lyrical concept was developed. To create the concept, Andrè and Hansi worked alongside German bestselling author Markus Heitz, whose latest novel Die dunklen Lande was released on March 1st, 2019. The book is set in 1629 and contains the prequel to BLIND GUARDIAN TWILIGHT ORCHESTRA's opus Legacy Of The Dark Lands, which will be out on November 8th, 2019. To give their fans a first taster of the new album, the band is proud to present the first sin...

JINJER Release New Music Video & Announce European Tour Dates

One of the hardest working bands in the heavy metal landscape at the moment, Ukrainian juggernaut JINJER have released a 4th video single “Teacher, Teacher!” taken from their critically acclaimed 5 track EP entitled Micro, released via Napalm Records in January 2019. Filmed in various concert venues throughout Europe on their last tour with Amorphis and Soilwork,“Teacher, Teacher!” is a visually stunning portrayal of JINJER's exciting and energetic live show mixed over the unique Progressive Groove Metal sound that sets them apart from the rest of the pack. The band comments on the new track & video "Teacher, Teacher!": "The idea behind the song is about people that dictate their agenda by means of their status, position, or just their internet claim to fame in order to impose their opinion onto others but those opinions aren’t based on experience nor knowledge." JINJER are currently booking more tours on their quest for world domination with dates ...

We follow her as she searches for meaning in life when suddenly she meets and falls in love with death. This haunting concept album sees the band taking a turn towards heavy progressive rock while still not neglecting their folk roots. The band states: "Today we release 'The Spell' - a concept album based on the old motif of "Death and the Maiden", but with our own unique story of a girl who falls in love with the personification of Death. For the first time we wrote music according to a lyrical concept, we let the words of the story guide our melodies and rhythms and fully immersed ourselves in this fictional world. Now we invite you to do the same - dream, interpret, make it your ...

The winner was the 7-minute long 'Drown' and today, you'll get to see the hauntingly beautiful music video that was once again animated by Costin Chioreanu. "For this single, we wanted to do something different", the band states. "And we felt that our striking one-word tracklist is perfect for a fan vote. To let people decide which song they want to hear next based on only the title and length of the song, and to take us out of the decision process for once. To our surprise -- and joy -- the song that is probably the least "commercial" of all of them was chosen and we think that is kind of cool… ...
