RIVIA Announces Their New Single ‘Wasted’ Exploring Motivation and Life Choices

RIVIA are back with a bang, announcing their fourth independent single release, "Wasted". A song tackling the regret of not achieving your full potential.

Everyone faces setbacks, especially musicians, and especially during the past 18 months. The boys in RIVIA are no exception, after their 2020 UK tour was cancelled, RIVIA has since released ‘Amsterdam’ alongside the Liverpool based independent label Big Condo Records.

Now, the four lads from Liverpool announce their newest release, "Wasted". Taking the disappointment and frustration they felt after the tour cancellation, this is a song about striving to push for your greatest potential, especially when you feel like you have missed your chance to achieve it.

Chris Ellis, 23, drummer, said “This song is for everyone who has decided to give up on music, or is thinking about it. Don’t! Please stick at it, too many people are leaving the industry”.

Matt Sloan, 24, singer, rhythm guitarist and founding member of the band, explains “Choosing to become a musician is choosing to take a risk, instead of accepting the mundane and normal, you work you’re a** off for something better than a s*** life”.

Warren Mathews, 23, lead guitarist and founding member, said “For me, this song represents us fully, we all came together to write this which is different from past releases. This is the single that displays all our influences coming together and maturing as a band”.

Peter Malone, 23, bassist of the band summarises the song as “Wasted is about facing challenges and setbacks head-on or face the regret of not working hard enough to reach your goals”.

"Wasted" is extremely melodic, bursting with energy, with catchy riffs and a huge chorus and serves as a relatable and powerful reason not to give up on what you what to do. - Mad About Rock

"Wasted" will be available on all streaming platforms from 31st December 2021.

Voi and Luger told us: “This is now just a continuation of what we have been doing all our lives and only now in our 'older age' we have done something serious. Of course when it comes to music, at least for us, we wanted to record an album with some of the best musicians in metal music and the ones that we listened to when we were kids. We are not saying that this is something special what we are doing, but this means a lot to us and basically we are doing this for ourselves and our closest friends first but also for all the metal fans around the world who we hope are going to like our new music.
