With their seismic debut album 'Deathwish' dropping Friday, 27th June, and a pummeling new single and video 'Backbone Of Existence' landing this week (see video below), PERPETUAL PARADOX are set to dominate the modern metal landscape. Forged in fury and driven by defiance, the band’s brand of heavyweight riffage and sonic hostility is impossible to ignore. We exclusively caught up with the Paradox crew as they gear up to unleash chaos, and they let us in on the tracks that have defined, inspired, and fueled 'Deathwish'.
Ollie Miles (Lead Guitar): Bleed from Within - 'I am Damnation':
"Trivium has always been a massive influence on my playstyle! Fell in love with them when a friend of mine introduced me to their album SHOGUN! Kirisute Gomen became instantly my favourite track…not just from that album, but from their entire discography! The epic entrance, heavy fast riffing, beastly drumming, the beautiful melodic mid-section, solos…this song is for me, metal at its best!”
Will Armstrong (Drums): Parkway Drive - 'Wild Eyes':
"I first heard Alison Hell when I was 14, just getting into metal. As a bassist, I was shocked as the bass wasn’t just following root notes at high speed like in most thrash metal songs I knew at the time…. It played what for me were super complex riffs along with the guitar, and in other parts it took the lead while guitars held chords. The neoclassical vibe totally expanded my perspective in metal as well."
"For me it’s To the Hellfire – specifically that benchmark of a breakdown. With our upcoming single, we started leaning a bit more into deathcore, and I was sure we needed a breakdown like that one. When the moment came in “Backbone of Existence”, I knew it was time to go full filthy."
