TETHRA: Italian doom/death act drops new album ‘Empire of the Void’ via Black Lion Records

Italian melancholic doom/death quintet's third opus is now out (released March 20th) via Black Lion Records. Containing nine original numbers of elegant melodies and a dismal, doomy version of David Bowie’s masterpiece “Space Oddity,” the album focuses on the duality between what is hidden inside the depths of the human soul and the vastness sidereal space.

Download/Stream ‘Empire of the Void’:

Formed in 2008, TETHRA is a melancholic death/doom quintet based in Novara, Italy. Having two full-lengths and an EP under their wing, Tethra has gradually honed their gothic death/doom craft over the years, incorporating elements of progressive metal and plunging into the ravine of bleak melodies. Apart from sharing stages with the likes of Sepultura, Daylight Dies, Saturnus, Forgotten Tomb, The Foreshadowing, Swallow the Sun, Antimatter, Officium Triste, and Negura Bunget, the Italian group has played several live shows and festivals (including Malta Doom Fest) to date.

Tethra's new album, Empire of the Void, was recorded and mixed from August to November 2019 by Matt Stancioiu at Elnor Studios and mastered by Greg Chandler (Esoteric) at Priory Recordings Studios. Through the personal blend of progressive doom, death metal, and the most evocative gothic metal, Tethra strung along with a very dynamic songwriting process on this album while remaining faithful to the sound built for more than ten years of activity. The album features guest contributions from Lele Triton (keyboards) and Gogo Melone (vocals on "Light Year Breath").

Band-Maid MCM Comic Con Live Review/Feature - Fringe Festival 29/5/16

J-Rockers Band-Maid make first European performance at huge MCM Comic Con

Band-Maid, one of Japan’s up-and-coming all-girl rock acts, made their live debut to UK/Europe at MCM London Comic Con, which took place from 27-29th May 2016 at ExCel London, hosting the UK's biggest Modern Pop Culture Event.

The Tokyo quintet who formed in 2013, consisting of Miku (guitar/vocals), Saiki (vocals), Kanami (guitar), Akane (drums) and bassist Misa – have been building quite a reputation and fan-base all over with their blend of cute yet deadly rock music and stand out imagery (appropriately dressing as maids) whilst they unleash and deliver their seriously skilled and striking sounds. The concept of the maid outfit aesthetic stems from founder Miku’s experiences in the maid cafes of Akihabara – the Tokyo district known for otaku (‘geek’) culture and passion for rock music.

Through their music videos they have been reaping success and gaining well deserved attention, especially for the videos f…

REVIEW: Spreading The Disease - Insurrection

Modern metal quartet Spreading The Disease from Kent, UK formed in 2014 and then earlier this year in September 2017 they finally unleased their debut album ‘Insurrection’ which shows they are ready to infect metalheads and critics alike with their no-nonsense sounds…
Opening song ‘Find My Path’ starts with a melodic and resonant intro before fierce vocals come in with hard-hitting heavy guitars, it then goes on to feature an effective stripped back section towards the end which gives it extra depth. This is a powerful and strong start to the album.
‘Words Unspoken’ is a thumping tune with great rhythms and is very headbang worthy and incredibly catchy, keeping up the momentum is self-named track ‘Spreading The Disease’ which immediately pulls you in with catchy melodies and is all consuming with mighty riffs and a massive aggressive sound.
Latest single ‘Greed’ is frantic and driven and features some of the best guitarwork so far and again is very belligerent and is bound to get the mos…
